Nurse-Aide Course Information
The course provides both classroom and clinical experience in caring for the
aging patient, client and resident. It will help you qualify for state registry as a nurse aide
after completion of Nebraska or Iowa state approved exams. After successful
completion of the examination, participants will be eligible for registry in both Iowa and
Nebraska. This course includes a minimum of 30 hours of practical clinical application
and 45 hours of classroom content. Computer assisted instruction, videos, lecture, group
discussion, textbooks and handouts are all instructional methods utilized.
Participants will be able to:
Identify the physical, emotional and psychosocial aspects of the aging process.
Demonstrate basic knowledge, skills and attitudes specific to caring for the aging
patient/client/resident.
Identify means to assist the aging patient/client/resident in obtaining and
maintaining their optimal function potential.
Demonstrate care that reflects consideration of the aging patient/client/resident.
