CEBU CENTENNIAL LIONS CLUB

  

NOVEMBER 6, 1998. BOARD AND GENERAL MEETING. The 5th monthly meeting was held at the residence of Lion President Elsa Ong. Among that topics discussed was the upcoming drug awareness week wherein the club will sponsor a drug awareness symposium and jingle contest. Also discussed were the medical and dental projects, bundles of joy and Christmas party.

NOVEMBER 10, 1998. COUNCIL MEETING. The President and First Vice President attended the council meeting which was held at the Baseline Restaurant.

NOVEMBER 12, 1998. INTER-LIONS CLUB BOWLING FELLOWSHIP TOURNAMENT. This is the second leg of the on-going inter-Lions Club Bowling Fellowship Tournament among three Lions Clubs. Luckily again, the Cebu Centennial Lions Club garnered the highest point award for the night.

NOVEMBER 16, 1998. DRUG AWARENESS SYMPOSIUM. In connection with the national drug awareness week and youth drug awareness week celebration, the club decided to conduct a symposium on drug abuse prevention. Knowing that most of the teenage boys nowadays are presently hooked or curious about drugs, it is best to conduct such symposium. The school that was chosen was the University of San Carlos-Boys High. The said symposium was held at the campus gym. The symposium included testimonies and panel discussions. Questions were also being encouraged from the students themselves. There were also entertainment numbers from the students themselves. The audience during the morning's symposium were the first and second year high school students.

NOVEMBER 17, 1998. STILL THE DRUG AWARENESS SYMPOSIUM. The symposium was again held at the same venue, with different speakers and audiences this time. The students for this day were the third and fourth year high school students from the University of San Carlos-Boys High.

In the afternoon, a JINGLE SINGING CONTEST was held, also in connection with the national drug awareness week. The contest was held at the Provincial Capitol Social Hall. The contest proper started at 2 in the afternoon. The students from different schools participated in this affair. They sang heartily and danced gracefully. The composition of the jingle was in accordance with the national theme: "Tuloy Laban: Kalayaan Noon - Drugas Ngayon." Four members of our club were chosen as judged. The school from the University of the Philippines emerged as winners for the said event.

NOVEMBER 26, 1998. INTER-LIONS CLUB BOWLING FELLOWSHIP TOURNAMENT. Officers and members of the three Lions Clubs all had fun rolling those bowling balls at SM Bowling Center. For the third time in a row, the Cebu Centennial Lions Club won.

DECEMBER 4, 1998. BOARD AND GENERAL MEETING. Last general meeting of the year was conducted at the residence of Lion President Elsa Ong. Among the topics that were discussed were: new e-mail address of our club, bundles of joy, Christmas party, medical and dental clinic, pasko sa sugbo (the club supports the government in street lighting project) and the proposed aids awareness program.

DECEMBER 10, 1998. INTER-LIONS CLUB BOWLING FELLOWSHIP TOURNAMENT AND AWARDING CEREMONIES. This was the last leg of the four-series inter-Lions Club bowling fellowship tournament. The club was announced the winner. Second place when to Sinulog Lions Club while the third went to Cebu Host Lions Club. Two additional awards, highest points award (male and female) were also given to the club members, Lion Elsa Ong and Lion Alexander Benedict Chua.

DECEMBER 13, 1998. BUNDLES OF JOY. The club wanted to share their blessings especially during the Christmas season. The motto "We Serve"is portrayed in this project through giving Bundles of Joy. The barangay which they have chosen was in Sitio Malibu, Subangdaku. They gave out packs for each family which consists of rice, cookies, curls, noodles, sardines, face towel and soap.

DECEMBER 27, 1998. CHRISTMAS PARTY. To promote camaraderie among the members and to celebrate the holiday season, the club held the first annual Christmas party at the residence of Lion Devin Go.
