CEBU METROPOLITAN LIONS CLUB

NOVEMBER 7-11, 1998. The Club visited its twin-club Kitakyushu Tobata Liosn Club in Kitakyushu City, Japan. The occasion was their 40th anniversary celebration for November 7 and 8, 1998 in Kitakyushu City.

The 22 members of the delegation were Zosimo A. Quezon, Jr, President and Head of Delegation, Immediate Past President Jose L. Guy, Lioness Dra. Gingging Guy, First Vice President Vicente T. Go, Lioness Encarnacion Abines-Go, Past President Juanito C. Mendoza, Lioness Carmen Mendoza, Past President Juanito C. Po, Lioness Julie Po, Past President Victor C. Go, Past First Vice President Wellington G. Lim, Club Legal Counsel Rolando M. Lim, Lioness Dra. Julieta Lim, Club Legal Counsel Felix C. Chan, Past President Antonio O. Yap, Lion Johnny A. Gobok, Lion Vicente Y. Go, Lioness Baby Go, Lioness Dominga Sun, Mr. Emiliano Mendoza (son of Lion Johnny Mendoza), Lioness Fedelaine Mendoza (wife of Mr. Emiliano Mendoza) and former club employee Pia Tan Kwan.

Among the other highlights of the visit was the donation made by Kitakyushu Tobata Lions Club in favor of government and private hospitals in Cebu through the Cebu Metropolitan Lions Club's initiative. The recipients of the donations are Camp Lapu-lapu Hospital (Lahug, Cebu City, Government Hospital), Lilo-an Medical Center (Lilo-an Metro Cebu, Government Hospital), Velez General Hospital (F. Ramos Street, Cebu City, Private Hospital) and Cebu City Sports Commission.

For the Camp Lapu-lapu Hospital, donated items were 1 ultrasonic diagnosis device, 1 operating table, 7 unshadow lamps, 1 vb anesthesia device, 1 sterilization device mtc22df, 1 injection unit, 3 steel beds and 3 carboard boxes (consumables).

For the Lilo-an Medical Center, donated items were 1 gynecological examination table, 1 mercury sphygmomanometer (standy), 1 movement bed, 1 sterilization device mtc22df, 1 incubator v55, 1 incubator (for carrying), 2 stand lights, 1 injection unit, 1 falling drop of water unit, 1 artificial revival device, 1 microtreatment device, 1 low frequency treatment device, 1 electricity hot pack, 1 cardboard box, 1 box of consumables and 1 steel bed.

For the Velez General Hospital, donated items were 1 gynecological examination table, 1 electricity examination table, 7 unshadow lamps, 1 mercury sphygmomanometer (standy), 1 sterilization device ace 30v, 1 sterilization device mtc22df, 1 incubator ice, 1 cardboard box with contents and 3 steel beds.

The donation is worth Y5,764,000.00

Formal ceremonies of the donation were the highlight of the Cebu Metropolitan Lions Club Christmas Party. The above items were shipped from Japan last October 12, 1998 direct to consignee Col. Romulo Ocampo, Commanding Officer of the Camp Lapu-lapu Hospital in Lahug, Cebu City. It arrived in Cebu on November 19, 1998.

Last November 21, 1998 the club send two representatives to the 2nd Cabinet Meeting in Bacolod City namely Zosimo A. Quezon, Jr and Nicasio A. Aniņon, club president and past president, respectively.
