The abbreviation of SPT stands for Shanghai Posts & Telecommunications. In 1997, SPT realized a full standardization in its all service providing departments. Nearly forty thousand SPT staff work in a standardized style to provide fast, correct, safe and convenient services. It is a real achievement so that MPT (Ministry of Posts & Telecommunications) issues cards to memorialize the hard success.

In the three designs, you may find a bird (blue or red) and three buildings. The bird symbolizes P&T industry. Because of an old Chinese legend saying about a bird delivering mails, the bird becomes the image of posts services and then telecommunications. The three buildings are Oriental Pearl TV Tower, old office building of SPT Administration and modern tower of Long Distance Telecom Office.

The theme of this issue is unique, although not interesting. I do not think there will be one more similar issue for such provincial event. This time is the first time and can be the last.

It is also the first time that the realistic designing style is not used. Comparing with often adopted realism, such abstraction is really rare.
