The Enterprise-A (NCC-1701-A)was the second starship to be named "Enterprise". It was commisioned in 2286 after the old one was destroyed. The constitution-refit ship was put under command of Captain James T. Kirk and was very simialar (almost identical) to the upgraded original althogh the layout was a little different.
