Silencers

Brügger & Thomet (B&T), specializes in the design, manufacture and supply of weapon silencers and customized weapons for defense ministries worldwide. Products include metal deflectors, silencers and tactical suppressors.

B&T's metal deflectors are carefully machined and chrome-plated, thus providing better performance, easier maintenance and improved durability. Silencers are made of steel and, upon request, aluminum. Each silencer undergoes rigorous quality inspection and is individually numbered.

INTEGRAL SILENCER SYSTEMS

B&T manufactures a full range of integrally silenced weapons ranging from fully automatic submachine guns (SMG) to big bore bolt-action rifles. The B&T suppressed SMG sound level is reduced by 28 dB.

Kits, using B&T silencers and H&K original parts, can be supplied for converting Heckler & Koch MP-5 and MP-5K submachine-guns to MP-5SD (MP-5kSD). The B&T silencer can also be adapted to the original MP-5SD.

Other integrally suppressed SMGs include the Chilean 9 mm SAF, internationally marketed by FAMAE with the B&T silencer. The FAMAE is based on the SIG 540 assault rifle and chambered for the 9 mm Para cartridge.

Integral Silencer rifles include:

• Category 1 rifles (caliber .22 lb to .22 WRF) designed for varmint hunting
• Category 2 rifles (.32 ACP to .45 ACP) designed for military or paramilitary applications using handgun ammunition
• Category 3 rifles (caliber.222 Remington to .50 BMG) for military or paramilitary sniping rifles, mostly bolt-action, using subsonic heavy bullet ammunition.

All offer totally quiet firing and pin-point accuracy up to 200m distance.

DETACHABLE SILENCERS

B&T produces a High Precision Silencer (HPS) that can secured to the weapon within seconds by a precision mandrel and adapted to fit virtually any assault rifle. The B&T silencer offers exact barrel alignment, thus providing equal gas distribution in the silencer. In order to keep the same ballistic performances and the same accuracy up to 300m distance, the silencer has been designed for use with supersonic ammunition.

B&T also produces tactical suppressers featuring a universal mount to suit assault rifles using the standard NATO 22mm flash eliminator (e.g. M-16, Steyr AUG, Gall, SIG 540/550, etc.).

A snap-on silencer for the standard H&K MP-5 SMG is also available. Instantly mounted, it locks on the standard three lugs of the barrel without requiring any weapon modification.

IMPULSE SILENCER

A breakthrough in silencer technology, the patented B&T Impulse Silencer is a detachable accessory silencer designed for semi-automatic recoil-operated and breech-locked pistols. The Impulse Silence will allow selective bolt-action or semi-auto firing.

Making optimal use of the gas pressure in the silencer, the B&T Impulse Silencer features a small spring-mounted and conventional chamber in its first part and a conventional expansion chamber in the second creating a strong recoil which acts as a muzzle impulse and actuates the recoil of the slide.

Three variants are available:

• The IMPULSE-I, the simplest and the most compact machine requiring routine maintenance every 100 shots.
• The IMPULSE-II, based on the same principle but with the impulse system located in a separate rotating chamber. By rotating the chamber 90°, the spring-mounted chamber and breech will stay. The pistol works on bolt-action requiring the shooter to pull the slide to reload. Selections between blowback and bolt action can be made speedily without causing additional stress to the pistol.
• The IMPULSE-III, similar to the IMPULSE-II, but utilizing a rubber diaphragm at its business end for further sound reduction.
