American Armageddon5-29-2000Last time in this column we talked of a million man armed march on the nation's capital. Let's go to the wall here and follow up those musings of an armed million man march in realistic and meaningful terms. What would actually happen in the the case of a real life and death conflict between thousands of armed protesters and riot police? Interesting question. Exploring the happenstance strictly in the hypothetical, assume a comparatively similar marcher turnout to some of the big recent Washington marches numbering in the hundreds of thousands. Now, for the sake of assumption, say one guy in every ten brings a weapon to the march. So here's the equation: 400,000 x .1 = 40,000 That means there are 40,000 guys spread out in a massive group ten times that size, and they're confronted by 500, or say a 1000 or 2000 Darth Vader style storm troopers in kevlar suits, wielding assault style weapons and assorted military artillery. There would obviously be fear present on both sides of the line. Amongst the marchers, honest and brave young fathers and grandfathers would be thinking of loved ones and of their own fates, too, in unpleasant imaginary worst case scenarios. The thought of instant death or worse, ....perhaps imprisonment and execution or some like retribution against their families, would sober much of the potential unbridled enthusiasm that might develop over the prospect of an all out battle with the despised blackcoats, a confrontation finally coming to a head after a long series of injuries and usurpations which they have continually inflicted on the people. It must be apparent also in considering the possibilities, that the goon squads would be a might anxious themselves, facing off against a swelling wave of bristling indignation, cresting amidst a sea of determined and resolute protesters. I don't care if you have on a whole frigging closetful of kevlar suits, 400,000 pissed off dudes with guns ready to draw down on you is going to cause anyone just a wee tad of consternation. Bravado would nonetheless be present, and in sufficient measure to carry the marchers to remain adamant in the face of the threats of the government goonsquads. Also, some zealous and ambitious government field commander would no doubt be seduced by the charms of the potential glory of winning a battle against the incredible odds, and the visions of the ensuing promotion he would undoubtedly receive. In the heady conflict between righteous indignation and blind ambition, testosterone would ultimately prevail, as it always has since the dawn of man. So, when push comes to shove, and the terrible tale unfolds, some goonsquad point man will inevitably make a move to disarm or arrest a protester, and there will be someone, on one side or the other, that will be uncontrollably compelled to spill blood. Whether it's the blood of a patriot or of a tyrant, it will not matter who takes that first shot. Regardless from whence the first shot is fired, it will be immediately followed by thousands more. Much confusion will instantaneously take place as many fall in the first fusillades and many more make a reflexive retreat away from the fire. There will, however, remain a hard core of courageous riflemen and shooters, now taking cover behind the bodies of their freshly felled compatriots. Panic would become endemic in the goon squads almost immediately as they perceived the continuing fire coming from the marchers. I believe it is a safe assumption that their decayed training standards and their gender-compromised ranks would inevitably lead to the breakdown of their lines and their will to fight in the face of the overwhelming opposition. Patriot marksmen would pummel the armored blackcoats with fire, not only in their bulletproof vests, but in the exposed and vulnerable parts of their bodies not covered in kevlar, like their knees and their groins. Triumph, defeat, pride, shame, cowardice, and heroics would all be present. The whole range of human emotions and circumstances would be encompassed in the brief span of a few violent moments. By sheer force of numbers alone, the marchers must triumph initially against the forces of tyranny on this particular battlefield, but only by the power of God will the larger battle be won, or perhaps even avoided. The forces of tyranny will in all probability not be deterred by this one isolated skirmish. More likely, the tyrants will react like a cornered wild animal, desperately seeking survival. They will redouble and retreble their forces, even tenfold and a hundredfold, all very frightfully intimidating and worldly powerful, though totally and thoroughly morally bankrupt. Yes, unshakable will and indomitable faith will be demanded from the people on a continental scale if they are to prevail and subdue the renewed efforts of the tyrants. As history is wont to do, it will repeat itself again, pitting brother against brother and father against son. We can only hope that those unfortunates swept unwittingly up into government service will see the error of their ways and lay down their guns when this horrible circumstance comes to pass. Yes, the new revolution will require immeasurable courage and bravery on the part of the people. God Bless us and Let us draw strength from on high and from each other. On the other hand, we could all just sit idly by and watch the whole damned works slide down the greased rails to unfettered totalitarianism. Hmmm....the sad part is that not one in a hundred would probably even know the difference. Ugh! Perish the thought. A million man armed march is infinitely more preferable. An old saying goes, "United we stand, divided we fall," and a very wise revolutionary once said, "We had better hang together on this one, or we'll all hang separately." It is also written,
in more places than one,
that
faith can move mountains. Well, you better get some
faith, Baby, 'cause we got the whole damned Himalayas
right out there smack dab in front of us!
