Reflections

7-20-2000

It's hard to believe it's been a year since I started writing this column and I thought it might be appropriate to reflect briefly on what has passed in that time, and what might yet be to come. Call it my "State of The Playground Address," if you like.

Shortly after I had begun to post these little inflammatory missives, the thought of some sort of official retribution occurred to me as a very real possibility, given the proclivity of modern American government to conveniently overlook or completely ignore basic citizen's rights in its campaign to squelch and discredit as much meaningful criticism as it can. At the very least, I realistically expected the host of this website to pursue its own campaign of self-censorship by deleting the caustic bile I have vented here for the past several months, due to the very concerns I previously mentioned above.

Well, ....touch wood, the heavy fist has failed to materialize, from either front, and I continue to periodically pour forth my indignation at what I perceive as a corrupt bastardization of our original republican government manipulating and bleeding to death a misinformed and hypnotized nation.

That's not to say these pages won't disappear, due to nefarious machinations, in the blink of an eye and undoubtedly with little furor, but as of now, tune in from time to time while I cut through the bull's shed and try to put my finger on the licentious stink of the self-serving governors and regulators that are increasingly comprised of a larger and larger portion of our numbers, not only down the street and next door, but within our very own homes and families as well.

I recently had the pleasure of e-corresponding with the writer of a new website at least as venomous and inflammatory as this one when exposing and criticizing criminal government, and she is convinced that her on-line efforts are destined to run afoul of the official prevaricators of Political Correctness and the New World Order-style of "democratic principles." Who knows? She may be right, but I told her to charge forth, full speed ahead and damn the torpedoes, I mean, after all, you're either in or out, for or against, hot or cold. What do you wanna do, anyway, ....live forever?

Seriously, the reason this site, and others like it, can even exist, with all its rebellious exhortations and adamant protestations, is simply a function of its transparency in a cyberworld full of millions and millions of other sites, the numbers of which are increasing exponentially every single day. Thank God, too. The fact is, there are simply not enough regulators to shut everyone down! Sure, one site will fall now and again, by slander and smear, to be sure, but there are ten more, and a hundred emerging to take its place!

The fight against tyranny can be, and is, fought on several levels. Some attempt to fight within the system while others raise a storm outside it, carrying signs and holding hands. Others carry on a private and personal vendetta, withholding economic support and thwarting ubiquitous and petty official decrees as an everyday rule. Still others take up arms and pledge their very blood in their righteous wrath.

The internet offers unique weapons to resist the tyrants with the power of knowledge and reason, and because they cannot keep up with the swelling tide and power of common decency and basic human self respect, I will choose to believe that the war for the intellect of the nation will ultimately be won by the good guys.

Some wise man once said that you cannot enslave an educated people. As for me, and those others out there working to expose the errant course of our modern governors, I say let's keep up the pressure in exposing criminal government, ....splash it over every server and shout it from every rooftop, ....and pray to God that the wise man was right.
