..another depressed bitch..

8-17-2000

Okay ....Sure, I'm grumpy, ....and a little depressed, but I've got some medicine.

It's rained the past three days ....precious golf days gone, ....and it'll be damned near winter in a couple weeks!

Yeah, ....I'm depressed. Any fool knows oil's not going to get any cheaper when the cold comes, and the old burner needs attention badly. Gotta call those people soon ....Shit. And a guy better get his wood lined up in a hurry. Even in normal years, good wood gets scarce come fall.

Politics is horseshit, too. Another banal election year hoopla extravaganza till November ....and beyond, with the same old, tired, two identically sickening slugs for candidates, ....same as in every election.

....It's people, though, that are really depressing. People don't want anything different than this regular old comfortable coin-toss between two hollow plastic figureheads, who both offer the same old venal formulas for graft and license. As Walter E. Williams said today at .worldnetdaily.com, most of us stupid 270 million Americans are all in favor of living off each other. Depressing.

C-span recently aired some old films I watched, of Truman and Humphrey and others giving speeches at past conventions, and it's uncanny that the old rhetoric is virtually identical to today's sound bytes. Alas, the reality is that politics has long been the business of promises and the art of deception. The politicians on the old films were every bit a slimy as anything being offered up on today's stage, and the very core of the system panders to the basest elements of human greed and covetousness, then, just as now.

Promises, promises, promises, ....always a promise of something for nothing, rewards without responsibility, a pie in the sky, ....and that's a good thing, right?

That's what we seem to have been taught, anyway, since winning the so called world wars that made us the world's boss. Who says government schools are ineffective? They're training the masses to bow down quite nicely, thank you!

Good old government! It's certainly comforting to know that they're doing such a good job of making the world right. Like how, you say?

Like the Microsoft case, for instance, ....not to mention other stuff, like making sure with SWAT teams that we only use the best drugs, and have the safest buildings and cleanest environments, ....and certainly, bombing to rubble such bad places like Yugoslavia and Iraq.

Yeah, it's a good thing the government is busting down that outlaw Microsoft gang. Those ungrateful bastards are making too much money! We gotta give people a chance that are selling stuff that isn't quite as popular or profitable. After all, "It's for the children!," right? Good thing they're moving on this now, too. I was getting worried that my evil greedy mother might be gleaning too much filthy lucre from her modest Microsoft portfolio. Phew!

Yeah, ....shame on Gates and his renegade company for producing such revolutionary high tech products in the private sector, thereby letting lousy slobs like me cruise the internet (Webtv), ....and even write stuff on it! All this for a measly couple of hundred up front and about six bits a day. Thieving con artists!

Shame, shame, shame on those out of control insolent bastards!

Yes, thank God. My government is working diligently to ensure that those pricks who produced these modern miracles, ....for me and millions and millions of others, ....get the healthy and beneficial dose of public regulation which they so desperately need and deserve.

And we could talk about state government for a good little while, but it's starting to get a mite chilly. Well, maybe next time.

I'm going to break out the wool blankets.
