Horses to watch:

Dane Ripper- She will never be a genuine two miler, but anything up to 2500m Watch for her next spring, possibly in the Caulfield Cup.

Gold Guru- Racing at top form, his best is yet to come.

Columbia- Octagonal and Mouawad's baby brother. No trial form form yet but on breeding alone, should do well.

Doreimus- Grand old stayer. Proved last autumn that he can still be competitive at 2 miles against younger company. His spring campaign has been sound to date and should run well in the Cups.

Scandinavia- Granddaughter of Vain. Will get better as she matures, though has already proved herself against older company.

Adeewin- Deserves a mention on breeding alone. Has shown some promise. Watch.

Canny Lad- Former Golden Slipper Winner standing at stud. Oldest progeny are 5yo's, including 3rd place getter in the Victorian Derby to Nothin' Like A Dane and Octagonal, Donar. His progeny continue to win more races. He will one day rival Bletchingly as one of the greatest sires.

Forget these...

Might And Power- The best stayer in the world? I have never heard a horse more ridiculously labelled.

Zonda- Nothing but hype.

General Nedyim- His Newmarket win was not that great. He faded towards the end, and only won because of his lead. Nearly all his wins have taken place in Queensland and like other top Queensland runners, will never do any good outside the sunshine state.

Shovhog- After two failures, this horse is still favourite for the Golden Slipper? Don't people give up? Totally overrated.
