Wicca is a religion in which magick plays a special
role. Magick is spelled with a "k" to distinguish it
from stage illusions. Magick allows Wiccans to
improve their lives and return energy to the Earth.
The three main sources of energy used in magick are
personal, earth, and divine. Personal power is the
human life force. Energy is created by the Sun and
the Moon, and by food and drink. Humans release
energy by movement and exhaling.
Earth power is stored in natural objects such as
rocks and plants. Wiccans use these objects as tools
by directing their energies toward the magickal need.
Divine power is the life force which allows
everything to exist. Because Wicca is a religion,
first and foremost, magick is secondary in ritual and
is not performed during Sabbats unless there is an
urgent need, such as healing.
