Detmar1
Tobias2Samuel A. Stansbury, son of Tobias and Sarah (Raven) Stansbury, was born about 1694 in Baltimore County, MD. He married Mary about 1723. He married second Mary Ann Cullison May 27, 1777 in St. Paul Church, Baltimore County(?) MD. He died in April or May 1783 in Baltimore County, MD. There is some question about the identity of his first wife. One account holds that he married a Miss Porter of London, England. But there are those who claim that the Miss Porter mentioned here married another Solomon Stansbury from the New York Stansburys. Another account has his wife's first name as Mary, but no indication of her last name.

By 1750 he was credited with this same "Long Island" (100 acres) and "The Addition" (150 acres) acquired in 1744 (Baltimore County Debt Book, p.60). Long Island was described as being in "Middle River and Back River Upper Hundred, which is generally speaking the Towson, Loch Raven, Dulaney Valley vicinity." It is believed "they intend to dig up and quarry limestone." Object of suit, to block the expected "waste and destruction". He further claimed that the two tracts were sold to Abraham Risteau by Aquila Galloway.
The Bill was dismissed under the "rule of costs" and without
prejudice. ---Stansbury Newsletter Spring 1982 p. 7
