This is one of the one's that are said to be pretty, but lacks much of a plot. There is a plot, but it's buried deep in a lot of stuff. Basically this wandering samurai named Jubei who gets caught up in this plot to save...well, I forget what...but anyway. He has to fight all these guys named the Eight Devils of Kimon. He meets this woman who poisens people just by touching them. She gets kidnapped and assulted a lot. But it's a really good anime.
The art is very beautiful. That is the main thing people say when they talk about this anime. Everything is very fluid and realistic moving. The Devils of Kimon are creativly designed. I especally like the snake woman. The man with the bees inside of him reminds me of the spider man in Vampire Hunter D though. Sometimes the action lags and parts get long but the goodness is well worth it. The ending was very good. I found myself shedding a few tears.
The relationship between Jubei and that ninja woman(her name escapes me at the moment) reminds me so much of Gambit and Rouge of X-men. They are in love yet Gambit can never touch Rouge. Although Jubei does not realize that he loves her until the end he would not make love to her even to save his own life. I just wanted to smack him at that point. But then the second time I watched it a thought occured that perhaps it was the best for both of them. They would both go away hurt emotionally, at least she would, because she don't seem like the type to do that sort of thing without becoming emotionally attatched. I guess she would be afraid that she had gone soft. But still, in the end they both realized they loved each other, a little too late though. I just hope that Rouge don't die like that. Poor Gambit would't be able to take it.
