In my opinion Twilight is one of the most overlooked and underrated animes. The artwork is beautiful, the animation fluid and character designs are original. However, the one thing that really got to me is that there really wasn't much character development and you are left in the dark as to what had happened in the past. It's like watching the sequal to a movie without seeing the first one. So in the end when Tsunami and that Demon-God guy are talking about Tsunami's old lover and all these things that had happened you're like "What are they talking about?" Don't get me wrong, I love anime that makes you wonder and ask questions, but this is going just a tad bit too far. That said, here is a summary.
Long ago the Great Earth Mother created humans. They were weak so she created demons to teach them how to be stronger. However, the demons proved to be too much for them. So, the Mother created Gaurdians to protect the humans. Fast forward to just slightly in the future. The movie actually starts with a young mans proposal to his girlfriend. Unknown to her he is involved w/ some experiments with a new kind of drug that grants superhuman powers of strength and agility. Actually it turns you into a kind of monster. The unfortunate side effect is if you use too much, you stay that way permanently. Anyway, after savagely attacking and nearly killing his fiance Igi takes off into the night and is captured by the company he works for and is being held at a sex club called Crystal Box. Meanwhile his fiance, Shizuka, is trying to find him and kill him. She is almost killed by a maniac and taken in by a really nice guy who works for a man named Tsunami Shijo. She tells Tsunami about the demon and Tsunami tells her that he must be the one to kill the demon. So, he goes out to find it and faces two wind manipulators. I'm not precisely sure if they are rouge Gaurdians or Demons, but they are cool, especally the woman. I love her dress. Anyway, things come to a boiling point when the Demon-God and this one president of the company merge. Shizuka, having drugged her gaurd, shows up to take out Igi, but her plans are ruined when she is captured. That is a very moving scene when they let Igi and Shizuka have a "reunion". Finally there is the showdown between earth's top Gaurdian and the Demon-God. Somewhat confusing and disturbing, but pretty. Pretty wierd.
