Devil Hunter Yohko

Overall: B-
This is a very strange movie and I am unsure of what to think of it. I am writing this literally minutes after viewing the movie. It really gave a bad impression at the beginning, for the opening shots almost made me think it was going to be hentai like, but then it broke away from the dream sequence and showed its true colors. I rented this because it looked like a comedy from the box desciption and it is, you just might not realize it.
The humor is pretty twisted, thus is perfect in our new age of gross out comedy. It could probably be compared to Cute Honey or Ranma 1/2 for all the cheap shots, in every way possible, but it is much darker that those two series. Thats whats so weird, it is not dark like the terrible Bio Hunters but is not the lightweigh comedy Ranma 1/2 is. I was not sure what I was watching but decided to take it as a comedy and if you get yourself into that mindset, its pretty funny, after the opening scene.
There is virtually no character deelopement and I could swear Project AKO had several of the same scenes this movie does. But I have not seen AKO for a few years so I am not sure. The plot is very simple, Yohko is the 108th Devil Hunter and must fight the evil demons, including her principal. Its all crazy and I guess I liked it, though I would not waste my money buying it, the movie is only 40 minutes long, you think they could have put 2 episodes on each tape, there are 6 different episodes all together.
