Devil Hunter Yohko vol. 2 and 3
Animation: B+
Story: C
Overall: B+
Well, I have seen the light so to speak. In my review of Devil Hunter Yohko vol. 1, I complained because I was not sure what the movie was supposed to be. But after watching vol. 2 and 3, I know know its a comedy, an a fairly good one at that.
Yohko has changed a lot, for starters it is no longer a dark sick comedy like the first one was, not that the first one was terrible. Also, the problem of there only being one episode on each tape, has been solved, the tape I viewed contained two. Slight character developement is in the series, mostly because there are fewer characters this time around. The movie focuses on 3 characters, Yohko, her friend Chi, and Devil Hunter in training Az.
The two episodes are pretty crazy, lots of cheap shots are everywhere and the movie is a lot funnier that the first, most of the laughs come from the frustrated Yohko, episode two has some great one-liners when Yohko is fighting the flying demon. Overall, there two episodes are a great improvement over vol. 1. Everything just looks better, the scripts are funnier, and while the plot is not as crazy as vol. 1, it does make more sense. This stuff is an entertaining way to kill an hour.
