Calm and soothing
and yet, fierce and powerful
standing tall to crush opponents
yet, cowering low under people's trampling feet


Nuturing some
while washing others away
cold as ice one moment
then hot enough to burn and scald in another
and unrelenting and flowing in another
and yet caring and embracing in another still
never knowing what will be next


Always around
always enveloping
in one form or another
you can't get away from me
you may not even like me at times
for I may not like you at times either
but I'm always with you


I am to ease your pain
and to drown your rantings
I am to comfort you
and to bother you


Water is of many forms
and that is how I am
for I am a child of water
