Second marriage: Benjamin's second wife was Alice Escritt, born Beverly, Yorkshire 1 March 1833 They married on 5th October 1863 Alice died around 1904 Benjamin and Alice had the following children: John, Annie, ~e' kate(twins) all born in Southcoates, Hull between 1865 and 1867, and Sarah Alice, Harriett, James all born in the USA between 1868 and 1872 Benjamin died on 25th February 1876, and was interred at Burmantoffs Cemetery, Leeds, Yorkshire James Cheffins married Ullev J Learmonth at Cottesbe, WA on 26 December 1901 Georae Cheffins, born 1867 married Mar~aret (Jessie) Rachael Learmonth at Subiaco WA December 16 1903 George died~ February 1943, Margaret May 1973 George and Margaret had three children, (Sunny) Everstey, born 10 October 1904, who married Roy Nevile, MaY Thora Born 25 October 1909, who married Ray Charles Mortlock and George Cheffins, who married Edna Williams, all deceased except Edna Geoffrev RavmQn~orn Nedlands 25th July 1939 and Everslev Ruth born Nedlands 21 Januarv 1945 are May Thora's children

Their children were Albert, Charlotte, Bernard, John and Evelyn Evelyn's mother,Charlotte was the daughter of William Draper Poole and Elizabeth Trounce Shoreditch, who were married on June 19th 1824 and arrived in South Australia in June 1830 Evelyn Mav Scrvmgour was born on the 1 2:h June 1975, and died on the 20th July 1961

Harold, Charles, Archibald, Mable, Jessie In England, the Mortlock Bros Agents were found at Pidley House, Huntingdonshire, and they were corn merchants Evelyn married Sydney Francis Nixon Mortlock (of Perth) in Kapunda, Hawthorn, Adelaide on the 6th December 1900 and shifted to Perth with him Their children were Bernard, Ray, Len (twin died at birth), Mais, Glad, Else, kit S~ney died soon after the children were born in a motorcycle accident Pay Charles married May Thora and had two children: Geoffrey Raymond born 25 July 1939 and Everslev Ruth born 21 January 1945

Paternal Grandmother Evelyn May Mortlock nee Scrvmgour Paternal Grandfather - Sydney Francis Nixon Mortlock

Grandfather of Evelyn: George Scrymgour married Mary Ann Free in Blunthisham, Huntingshire ? George was born in 1813 and died in 1885. He came from London to Adelaide in South Australia in 1855 ? Wakefield scheme9) Their children were Charles, Mary Ann, James, Malcolm, George? Edmund, and Frederick and Alfred.9

Parents of Evelyn. GeorQe Scrymgour married Charlotte Juliana Poole in Adelaide at Ebenezer Chapel in 1862. George was born on the 4th of January 1838 and died in 1918. Charlotte was born on the 30th of June 1933? Their children were Albert, Charlotte, Bernard, John and Evelyn. Charlotte was the daughter of William Dra~er Poole and Elizabeth Trounce Shoreditch, who were married on June 19th 1824 and arrived in South Australia in June 1830. Charlotte was actually brought up by a family called Peacock, from Peacock tannery in Grenfell St, Adelaide. She attended the Ebenezer Church and taught Sunday School She was said to be house proud, a reader, a loyal friend with a strong conscience.

Evelyn May Scrvmgour was born on the 12th June 1~75, and died on the 20th JuLy 1961 Her family had been to Perth from 1886 when she was eleven. She gained a certificate to teach, and then went to work in an office. While in Perth her family ~wwere involved with Milne and Co, wine dealers. A fire burnt out the ships Chandlers business they were also involved in. They lived in Francis St, WA. She met Sydney in Perth, became engaged in 1898 and then moved back to Adelaide in 1899 She moved back to Perth on marriage.

Father of Sydney: James Mortlock (from Bluntisham, Huntingdon - brother Charlie?) married Caroline Annie Nixon. Caroline died on the 1st of January 1975 aged 31. Their children were ~ (born 11 July 1871?) Harold, Charles, Archibald, Mable, Jessie. James came out to NZ, and then returned to visit England, leaving Harold there. He intended to return but died while away. Ethel was a half sister from James second marriage to ?

In England, the Mortlock Bros Agents were found at Pidley House, Huntingdonshire, and they were corn merchants.

In Feb 1862 John Mortlock (James brother) wrote a letter to him from Queensland? about his travels in NZ and then Australia. He died soon afterwards (Mais has this letter.)

Later ? Sydney joined Harold in NZ and then came via Victoria to WA during the gold rushes in each state. They arrived in Perth during the 18905 when responsible government had just been given WA. Harold married Kate Dopel ? After arriving in WA the Mortlock Brothers began trading in ships barometers, grave glass domes and later push bikes, motor bike parts and eventually motor

bikes (Harley Davidsons~ BSAs) and cars They owned the family firm until the 1970s? when t was bought out by a Chinese businessman.

Evelyn married Sydney Francis Nixon Mortlock ( of Perth) in Kapunda Hawthorn, Adelaide on the 6th December 190Q and shifted to Perth with him Ther children were Bernard, Ray, Len (twin died at ~irth), Mais, Glad Else, Kit. Sydney died soon after the children were born in a motorcycle accident in Adelaide TceQ Ray was twelve. The older children particularly Bernard, Ray and Mais helped bring up the others, as their mother, Evelyn found it difficult

Ray Charles married May Ihora and had two children. Geoffrey Raymond born 25 July 1939 and Eversley Ruth born 21 January 1945
