Georgia and her husband farmed near Homer and Fairmount, IL and retired to the Bismarck, IL area in 1952. She was a Homemaker, an Avon Lady, a member of Bismarck Methodist church, Methodist WSCS, Home Extension and Bismarck Senior Citizens.
She enjoyed her family, her many friends and life in general. She was an avid reader and was interested in history, biographies, travel, all area news and current events. She had lived from horse and buggy days to space travel. She rode in a car for the first time in 1908. Always interested in travel, she took a trip to Europe with her daughter in 1972. She flew to Seattle in 1997 (when she was almost 100) for her Grandson's wedding.
In 1998 she was invited by her great granddaughter and her teacher to speak to the 60 second graders at Bismarck-Henning Grade School. She told the students about her life when she was in school and "that life before modern conveniences was wonderful and a little more peaceful then", also how she loved the styles of the times. The children were fascinated hearing about the "olden days" from one who had lived them.
She was born June 28, 1898, near Fairmount, IL to William O. and Blanche Johnson Brown. She married Mark Howard, January 31, 1918 in Danville, Illinois. They were married 70 years. He died November 21, 1988.
