The made for television movie Special Bulletin was broadcast. It was supposedly a live broadcast of a terrorist situation with a nuclear bomb on a tugboat off of the coast of the Carolinas.
One thing which clearly showed that it was a film, other than the constant announcements, was that the situation went into its second day.
I looked this film up on the IMDB and noticed that the VHS cover noted the name of actor Ed Flanders. My initial thought was Who is Ed Flanders? I went on to find out that he was the actor who played Dr. Donald Westphall on St. Elsewhere and I was shocked to learn that he had committed suicide in February of 1995.

Darren M., Todd D., Todd's cousin Pete G. and I went up to OU Chillicothe ("the branch") to go and see 2001: A Space Odyssey. I had just seen it either the night before or the week before since there were two showings up at the branch. The film started at 8pm. I'm not certain, but I think that Deven A. might have been running the projector. I would meet him later in 1985 when attending classes up at the branch.
Afterward, we all went out to Pizza Hut on Western Avenue. During the time there, someone dropped a metal tray in the kitchen. It made a hell of a racket and Todd yelled out, "Hey, that'll be enough of that back there!"
This was also the night that John F. died in his garage. It happened at about the time that we were at the movie.

We were having a cookout at home when I found out that John F. had died the night before. What I most wanted to do was to get in the car and drive out to see his house. And I felt so very powerless that I couldn't drive. I was 16, but I didn't get my license until I was almost 18.

The made for television movie The Day After was broadcast. It detailed people living in Kansas during a modern day nuclear war.
It didn't show nearly enough people who would have been blinded by the nuclear explosions.
