Here are some notes from my Crosspad:

I called Skoogie. He'll be leaving for O.B.C this weekend if not before. He said it might be Friday night. I want to check in on Dee and Maria just to make certain they are okay. I feel I owe it to Skoogie. We all met at the K-Mart in Reynoldsburg and went down to The Latern Chinese Restaurant for dinner.

Dee had not seen the van. Both Tammy and I had the house Lo-Mein. It was very good again (I'd had it when we took Bronda and Kevin out for dinner a few weeks back - their wedding is this Saturday. We need to shop for a present.).

Maria was playing with the acoustics in the restaurant. She wasn't crying - just listening to herself. Matt said this is the first time that she has ever done that in public.

After dinner, went driving down to Meijer and just walked around for a bit. It was about 9pm and we didn't want to keep the baby up all night, even though Matt said she usually falls asleep late. On the drive down, I'd loaned Matt the tape with Drenched on it. He listened to Sea Hag, Snacks and Candy, and So Good. I wish he had more time to listen and absorb the music.

I went out to Justin's and looked over his page on funky palm pilot software. That's got me thinking about getting a Palm Pilot all the more.

There were several neat programs, including a list of ingredients for 221 different drinks. Personally, I don't drink. But, it would be interesting to have anyway. This reminded me of a CD that Barry Disney had when I was up in Detroit for the first time. It was called The Finer Things or something like that. It had information on cigars, wines and other trappings of the socially up-scale. It was quite interesting, just to see a listing of that sort of thing. I don't smoke either, but it would be nice to be able to pick out a wine for someone.

One other interesting program was called Moon. It was a calendar that just showed the phase of the moon on a display of a given month. That really made me think of my watch. It's got the moon phases, but doesn't keep an accurate 29 1/2 day cycle.

Part of getting a Palm Pilot is for me to justify it. And one way I'm doing that is to see what all that I have which can be replaced with it. While the moon program is really cool, and keeping in mind that the pilot has a clock, I don't think I'll loose my watch, but I've thought of at least three things I carry to work that I'll be able to leave at home:
I haven't bought inserts for the DayRunner in years. I just use it as an address book. I still keep buiness cards, but it's better to keep the information in the pilot and the cards at home. (Watch this prove me wrong when I have a battery failure!) And I only started using the planner a month ago.

One other thing, since I don't have a laptop and I'm not going to get one working for Ajilon anytime soon, I'd just enjoy having a pilot just for the hell of it.

Hmm, I've been keeping a journal electronically for quite a time off and on. I think it might be time to start putting some of it on the web also.

I'll just use a skeleton of my index for now and see where all this wants to go. But, I've got a million things running through my head right now. I'm thinking of how to organize all of this and everything else.

Justin Hall seems to be one of the forces in my mind driving me to put more out on the web. Over the past month or so, I've began to re-visit his site. I'm going through some changes. I've changed jobs, and Tammy and I are about to change our whole life.

Our adoption is about to enter the home stretch. We are expecting our referral in sometime around January or February of 2000 and will be traveling 6 to 8 weeks after that. I'm excited! After 10 years of marriage, I'm going to be a dad.

We should be painting Delanie's room in a month or two. There are a couple of places to retouch on the walls, and then we redecorate. Tammy has it all planned out. The room will be grass green on the bottom half of the walls and sky blue on the top. The bottom will have lattice. We found a nice plastic type at Builder's Square. A couple of years ago, when she did Sidney's room, it was similar. I refer to that as the dry-run. Until we found the plastic lattice, she was wanting to use regular wooden lattice. I wasn't too thrilled with this idea. Too much chance for spliters and such.

I want to try my hand at painting clouds either with a sponge or freehand. In the movie Kramer vs. Kramer, their son had a room with hand-painted clouds.

I think I'll break this down into days, and go back and put other things in. I've got lots of old journal entries that I could use. Plus, I've got my old notebooks and new notes from my Crosspad. I must talk with David soon about the offer he told me for the Palm IIIx. I finally think I'm going to get one of those.

I was just thinking of how to link to David. I thought of making a:
"/~maytg_jedi/clubs/chilcug/david/"
folder. But, I'm worried about nesting too deeply. I did meet him at ChilCUG, back in the late 1980s, but then if I referenced Matt, should I make a:
"/~maytg_jedi/clubs/cap/skoogie/"
folder. But I don't know. This is part of the delima I sometimes impose on myself when I'm organizing things. Sure, I met Matt when I was in Civil Air Partol, but is that were I want to put him? He's a good friend, and a friend I'm currently in contact with much of the time. Same with David. Mostly, I have to find a method I like that is simple and stick with it. Moving things around later will be more of a nightmare.

Justin seems to be changing too. He's settled in San Francisco and living with a girl named Amy. I've been with Tammy for 13 years now. We had the 13th anniversary of our first date back on Friday. We should have gone out for Chinese Food.... (I wonder how long it will be before I put in that link?) It's a pity that I can't put this into my website as fast as I could put this all in my Brain.

It's funny, I feel like I'm becoming like Justin with using his layout for my journal (even though he uses his own examples to help people), but at the same time, it seems like he's becoming a bit like me, at least as far as settling down. Both are changes, and both are good for all.

I hope all of this works too. I'm just using a browser and local files. I can't upload this until this evening.

I've been working with this a bit more. And the more I think about it, the more I want to put it into frames. I really like having a index going down the side, but I know that most pages are going to get longer than a single screen. I'll try working with the frames example I have at home.
