Backstreet Boys Use Choir for Album
LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP)- The Backstreet Boys recruited some local talent to sing backup on the youthful heartthrobs' next album, "Millennium." Brian Littrell, a member of the quintet and a 1994 graduate of Tates Creek High School, was home Monday to direct 45 local choral students for the song "Perfect Fan." The tune was written for Littrell's mother, and he said using the choir- made up mostly of current or former Tates Creek students- was a gesture of appreciation toward choir teacher Barry Turner, who encourage Littrell to try for a singing career. "I never really pictured myself to be a singer before that," he said. The Backstreet Boys' current self-titled album has been on Billboard's top album list for 77 weeks. Their hits include "Quit Playing Games (With My Heart).

Once again the entertainment world focuses on today's hottest musical act The Backstreet Boys (video "All I Have To Give"). The Boys who were best-selling American act in 1998 are about to release their sophomore album "Millennium", and industry analysts are already predicting that it will be the best-selling recording of 1999 in the US, and produce multiple award nominations. Today the pop-act's lead singer Brian "B-Rok" Littrell along with the band's keyboardist, Tommy Smith, are in Lexington, KY, recording the chorus to "Perfect Fan", a song that Littrell and Smith co-wrote. In an interview with the Associated Press, Littrell stated that the song was written for the Boys' mothers to show their appreciation for the love and support that they provided during their rise to the top. At the same time, he called the use of his former high school's chorus a thank you to his choir teacher. When asked for comment, Jive Records, the Backstreet Boys record label in the US stated that "Millennium" would be released on May 18th. The album will feature tracks such as "Perfect Fan", along with "I Need You Tonight", "Show Me The Meaning", "I Want It That Way", "Don't Want You Back", "I'll Be The One", and "Who Do You Love" among others. The first single from the album said to be "I Want It That Way", should hit the airwaves in New York by the end of this month.
The diamond award winning Backstreet Boys are Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, AJ McLean, and Kevin Richardson, and are known for their hits "Quit Playing Games (With My Heart)", "As Long As You Love Me", and "Everybody". The group who sold out five shows in the tri-state area last summer will be touring the United States again this coming fall.
