News: November & December 1999

November 1st: Here's a little bit of bad news. Kevin injured his arm while in Denver, Colorado, yesterday. It's still unclear on whether he broke it or sprained it, but he performed the concert with his arm in a sling. Here's what he said at the concert: "Since I knew we were coming to Colorado, and since I love snowboarding, I went snowboarding and look what happened." Kevin still sang, and did what dance routines he could, but he didn't fly around like other concerts before yesterday. People who went said it didn't seem like he was in any pain, but don't know for sure. We here at "Backstreet Boys Locker" hope you're okay, Kevin!! Moving along, remember reading about a Backstreet Boy writing a song for Mandy Moore's CD, So Real. It was Howie who wrote the song, but in the video, it wasn't mentioned which song he wrote. At least, I don't remember it being mentioned. Well, when you thought a book written by Nick's mom was the best thing ever to all Backstreet Boys fans (especially fans of Nick), you thought nothing could top it, right?? WRONG!!! Now there is a video on Nick that you could get called, Nick Carter: The Movies Only A Mother Could Show. That's right. Nick's mom has done it again by putting together home movies of Nick and the family. The video is available on VHS at the price of $7.99 plus $2.00 for shipping and handling. You can order at http://nick-carter.com and it's IN STOCK with guaranteed shipment of 48 hours. At the site, you can also check out Part I of the video. Now, guess who's going to be on TV.... If you guessed Samantha Stonebraker, you guessed right. The TV show Extra conducted an interview at her home and it will be airing in mid-November. As if that weren't enough, she will also be doing a book signing. She hasn't gotten her schedule yet, but keep this in mind if you want to meet her and see what she's really like.

November 2nd: A person was arrested for selling fake Backstreet Boys and Bruce Springsteen tickets on EBAY. The suspect was arrested after people sent in their money and received nothing. He was charged and released after he posted bail of $20,000. More on the injury of Kevin, he told the fans "I was looking forward to coming to Colorado and doing some snowboarding but, as you can see, I messed myself up." Later on in the show he said, "I feel worthless up here but I want you to know that I'm singing my heart out for you." Since Kevin couldn't do the hat routine for "All I Have To Give" or the chair routine for "As Long As You Love Me", he stood on the platform in the center of the stage and danced by himself. To show Kevin his presence was much appreciated, the fans screamed their heads off whenever he was shown on the screens. It was clear the fans were glad he was there, doing what he could, and hadn't injured himself worse. The totals are in and here's how Millennium has done throughout the world:
10x Platinum (Diamond)- Canada
8x Platinum- USA (hooray!!!)
3x Platinum- Taiwan, Philippines, Italy, Mexico, Spain, Japan
2x Platinum- Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Singapore, Thailand
Platinum- Hong Kong, South Korea, Austria, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Denmark, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand
Gold- UK, Finland, Sweden, the Gulf, Norway, France, Portugal

Millennium has sold 16 million worldwide. It's still being said that Nick Carter will be on Total Request Live on November 19th, to talk about the "Into The Millennium" Tour. So be sure to watch. The American Music Awards will be on January 17, 2000, on ABC at 8pm. It's unclear on whether the Backstreet Boys will be there, but they're mostly likely going to be nominated for something. Once again, more writing credits for the Backstreet Boys. This time it's AJ, along with former Backstreet Band member Billy Chapin, who wrote the B-Side to the "Larger Than Life" single, "If You Knew What I Knew". The lyrics are in the "Lyrics" section of this site if you want to it check out. The "Real Audio" version of the song should be up sometime soon.

November 3rd: An update on Kevin's injury: Kevin dislocated his shoulder while snow boarding in Denver. He's fine now. He is not dancing for the next few shows but otherwise he's alright. Don't worry. This update comes from Tommy Smith, keyboardist for the Backstreet Band. Okay, some of you heard about the earthquake that hit California early in the morning on October 16th. Well, me and Dalila felt it since it hit not too far from where we live. I'd say 90 miles away or so. Actually, I was at Dalila's house when it happened since we were on our way to Las Vegas later that day to see the Backstreet Boys in concert. Anyway, we were wondering where the Backstreet Boys were and what they were thinking and feeling about it at that time. It sure freaked me and Dalila out. Well, Tommy has provided us with an answer to our question: They were on the 27th floor of an Anaheim hotel and they were freaked out themselves. Except AJ, who was in a van on the road and he said he didn't feel anything. What he was doing in a van on the road, I don't know, because the quake hit at 2:46 in the morning. Tommy said he ran down 27 flights of stairs to wait out aftershocks on the ground. Well, he didn't have to wait long. A couple hours later there was a pretty big aftershock. Moving on, while in California the Boys recorded background vocals for a new Elton John song that will be featured in an upcoming animated film for Dreamworks. I'm sure you all heard about the BSB/Jive situation. Not to worry anymore 'cause Tommy said the whole thing has been settled and talks of a new album are underway. Speaking of new, the next US tour will begin in February 2000. This time Texas fans will be included. The Backstreet Boys will be performing at the MTV Europe Music Awards via satellite on November 11, 1999, so be sure to watch. Also on November 11, 1999, there will be a press conference at the Skydome in Toronto, Canada, for Backstreet Boys fans. On November 1st, the song "I Need You Tonight" was played as background music to an 18th birthday party on General Hospital. Even soap operas need the Backstreet Boys' music. The song Howie wrote for Mandy Moore's CD, So Real, is called "I Like It". I've heard a little clip of it and it sounds really good. Well, it seems money was no object while making the video for the song dedicated to all Backstreet Boys fans around the world. The video for "Larger Than Life" cost 3 million dollars to make, putting it in the top 5 most expensive videos in music history. That shows the Boys want only the best for their fans. Lately, Tommy said the flu has been going around the Backstreet Boys crew, band, and others. Tommy caught it himself, but now the one sick is Nick. So, be understanding if Nick seems a little bit under the weather at a show you happen to be at.

October 5th: The media has been all over the Backstreet Boys' cases ever since this story broke out. The Backstreet Boys had denied a request made by the Rainbow Connection to visit a 5-year-old girl named Morgan Zalewski, who is undergoing chemotharapy for lukemia. Patricia Flack, the director of the organization, said their requests are "almost never" turned down. The media caught the story when the father of the girl called up a radio station (I think) and told them the what happened. The media has been crucifying the Backstreet Boys ever since. The Backstreet Boys have released a statment saying: "We are hurt by these reports that we deliberately did not see an ailing child in Detroit," says the band, which was honored as the 1999 Celebrity Wish Grantors of the Year by the Make-A-Wish Foundation. "We are committed to our fans and whenever possible make every effort to meet as many as possible. Due to our current tour schedule and the amount of requests we receive, we're unfortunately unable to meet everyone. We offer our regrets to the Zalewski family and send our best wishes to Morgan." Patricia Flack said, "We were disappointed, but completely understood that it is not humanly possible to respond to all of them." Once again the media has blown everything out of porportion. Well, Kevin may not have gotten named "Sexiest Man Alive", but he did get named "Sexiest Pop Star". People Magazine will have an article and some pictures of Kevin in this issue in stores today. Millennium made #2 on the 10 Top Grossing USA Albums, but that's not all. They also made it onto the Top Grossing North American concerts taking: 1st for the October 16-17 shows in Las Vegas, NV; 2nd for the October 14-15 shows in Anaheim, CA; and 7th for the October 4th show in Columbus, OH. It's being said the Backstreet Boys might be presenting an award at the upcoming American Music Awards. Well, as told before, it was said Nick Carter was going to be on Total Request Live on November 19th, but I've heard that the Boys will be in Kansas City, Missouri that day. I don't know if that's true, but I do know that they don't have a concert that day. Well, for all you fans who want to learn to do the Backstreet Boys' dances, as well as some other music artists, there is a homevideo called Go Fatima! coming out where Fatima Robinson, who works with the Backstreet Boys and others, teaches how to the dance routines from the Backstreet Boys' "Everybody" video to Aaliyah's "Are You That Somebody?" video. For more info, visit Fatima's website at: www.gofatima.com.

October 7th: "Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely" will be the next single released off the Millennium album. The video should be out around December 15th and this single is expected to be the first single off Millennium that will be sold in the USA. So, if you want to buy yourself an early Christmas present, buy the new single. It should be in stores around Christmas time. And if you want to give the Backstreet Boys a unforgettable Christmas present, help get this next single to #1 on the singles charts. There have been some really good reviews on the singing of the "National Anthem" by the Backstreet Boys, although it was said some of the people in the crowd booed them when they first walked out (remember the All-Star Hockey Game??). AJ took this opportunity to show everyone his newly-dyed red hair, and Nick showed the fans that were there he does know what a haircut is (it's about time). Now for upcoming TV appearances:
11/10/99- Top 10 Love Songs of the Year @ 5:30pm on VH1; Backstreet Boys are on the countdown
11/19/99- All That @ 6pm on Nickelodoen (repeat)
11/20/99- Fairway to Heaven Golf Tournament @ 11am-2pm on VH1; taped October 18th at the Las Vegas Country Club

1/17/2000- American Music Awards @ 8pm on ABC; the Boys might be presenting
2/23/2000- Grammy Awards @ 8pm on ABC; still unclear on whether the Boys will be there or not

October 9th: Okay, I was going to update yesterday, but my AOL wasn't working right, so you may know some of this stuff already. The new BSB homevideo which was supposed to be released today, won't be released until a later date. A friend of mine called up the place she reserved her copy of the video and they told her it wasn't in and wouldn't be in until a later date. The date hasn't been set yet. The Backstreet Boys will be part of the opening acts for the MTV Europe Music Awards on November 11th. They will performing via satellite. As reported before Samantha Stonebraker, Brian's ex, has been interviewed by the TV Show, Extra, to talk about her book on her relationship with Brian, and that will be aired on November 15th, for those who are interested. Samantha isn't the only BSB-related person going to be on TV. AJ's girlfriend, Amanda Latona, had scored herself a spot on a TV show pilot called, Vamps. That's right, Amanda's gone Hollywood, so to speak. To find out more, go to The Girlfriends section.

November 10th: Not much on the news front, just a little bit of info on the BSB homevideo, "Standing Room Only". Amazon.com is taking orders for the video now, but you won't get the video until it's release date, which seems to be January 1, 2000. They have three options for you, so go check them out and see if you want to get it.

November 11th: Well, there's still not much happening. Mandy Moore's debut album, So Real, will be released on December 7th. Then all the fans will be able to listen to the beautiful lyrics written by our very own Howie Dorough for a song called "I Like It". But it also helps that you actually like Mandy Moore. As for the homevideo, Backstreet Boys: Standing Room Only, I've heard another release date for the video could possibly be November 23rd. I certainly hope so 'cause I don't want to wait until next year to get it.

November 12th: First of all, I'd like to say "CONGRATULATIONS!!!" to the Backstreet Boys for winning "Best Group" at the 1999 MTV Europe Music Awards. The Boys said their "thank yous" by video:
"Thank you to everyone out there for this award, Best Group award. Wow - what an accomplishment. Thank you very much. We’re currently on tour right now and we can’t be over there at the moment, but we miss you guys very, very much", they said by video message. "We’re looking forward to getting back over there very soon. We wanna thank all the video directors that we’ve worked with, all our fans all over the world and all the radio stations for pumping our music and keeping Backstreet alive. Be looking for the new single, ‘Show Me the Meaning’. Check it out. Thanks you guys. See you soon".
Next, the Boys have a new five-album record deal with Jive Records valued at $60 million, making it one of the largest record deals ever. The follow-up album to Millennium is slated to be released in September. The Backstreet Boys are right up there with multi-million dollar artists like Prince, Michael Jackson, and the Rolling Stones. Now for some TV appearances:
11/14/99- Miami Dolphins/Buffalo Bills Game @ 1pm on CBS; the Backstreet Boys are said to be singing the "National Anthem", not confirmed
11/19/99- All That @ 6pm on Nickelodoen (repeat)
11/20/99- Fairway to Heaven Golf Tournament @ 11am-2pm on VH1; taped on October 18th at the Las Vegas Country Club
11/20/99- Fairway to Heaven: Sexiest Videos of '99 @ 5pm on VH1; a Backstreet Boys video is being shown
11/20/99- MTV Europe Music Awards @ 8pm on MTV; the Boys won "Best Group"
12/08/99- 1999 Billboard Music Awards @ 8pm on FOX
1/17/2000- American Music Awards @ 8pm on ABC; the Boys might be presenting
2/23/2000- Grammy Awards @ 8pm on ABC; still unclear on whether the Boys will be there

November 13th: Alright, the Backstreet Boys got what they wanted. More creative control and more money. It's the Backstreet Boys who now decided what gets turned into merchandise, where it's sold, even to how it's licensed. And they get 20% royalties. Personally, I think that's how it should've been from the beginning. It's their faces on all the magazines, T-shirts, posters, books, calenders, glowsticks, stickers, buttons, pens, notebooks, backpacks, hats, etc. I think you get the point. You should have a say in what goes and what doesn't, right? Besides, Jive said it themselves. Backstreet Boys is their top-selling group and they'd be fools to let them go. I'm sorry to say, but N Sync made the wrong move. They tried to be like the Backstreet Boys, but instead of the N Sync suing everybody, everybody is suing them. Now their future is being questioned and they could disappear soon than everyone thinks. Anyway, guess who else Leighanne has appearing in her movie, Olive Juice. Not only does she have Brian making a cameo, but she also has AJ making one as well. I guess the more Backstreet Boys, the merrier. Or the more attention it'll get. Filming begins on Monday, November 15th and is expected to end December 15th in Mount Dora and Orlanda, FL. I'd like to go see the movie being filmed, but I don't live in Florida. I'm sure if you look, you'll find it....

November 16th: Well, I watched Extra today and didn't see the Samantha Stonebraker interview. So, I went back to her site and checked to see if I got the date right. It said the interview would be aired the "week of November 15th". I'm guessing that means it's airing sometime this week. Moving on, in an article written in Malaysia, it was said that the "Larger Than Life" single was going to be repackaged and reissued with Millennium over there. There was no mention if it was going to be done anywhere else.

November 18th: I would've updated yesterday, but there were some problems I couldn't fix, so sorry if you've heard some of this stuff. As you all know, the Backstreet Boys sang the "National Anthem" at the Miami Dolphins/Buffalo Bills football game. Well, a lot of the fans tried to get autographs while they were going into the stadium. Dolphins guard, Kevin Donnelly was also not permitted to get through by security when he tried to get the Boys autograph. It's not known if the autograph was himself or his 3-year-old daughter, Kayla. I think it was for his daughter, but it would be cool if it was for himself also. Well, parents got a pleasant surprise when they found out they didn't have to risk breaking their eardrums by the piercing screams of the thousands of fans entering the Marine Midland Arena. There was a Parent Room where parents had the option of signing up for if they didn't care to see the Backstreet Boys. There they drank coffee, ate some food set up for them, and talked to follow parents of Backstreet Boys fans. They could agree on two things: they had huge, if not obsessed BSB fans for children, and they appreciated the idea of the Parent Room. I recently read an article about a disappointed Backstreet Boys fan, who went to a concert and it didn't exactly live up to her expectations. Well, I have one thing to say (actually, a couple): Girl, you are DAMN lucky you even got to go. You don't know how many fans would've loved to have been there in your place. Anyway, she went on to say that she has come to realize (in her mind) that she will never be anything more than an obsessed fan to the Backstreet Boys. She doesn't know how wrong she is. If it wasn't for her, and the millions of people around the world, there wouldn't be any Backstreet Boys for her to see. She also said that she'll never meet them. I can't say that she will, but all the fans that have met them didn't sit on their asses waiting for the Backstreet Boys to come knocking on their doors. You have to do some heavy-duty planning if you want to have the chance to meet them and, trust me, they will tell you to your face how much they appreciate you and your support for their music. She also has to understand that the Backstreet Boys are very busy people and they're human. They've said time and time again that they can't meet everyone. I definitely understand this 'cause I used to think the same thing before I came face to face with the Boys. But I also know that if I ever wanted to meet them, I had to look for things like where they're going to be and when they're going to be there, and how I'm going to get there (if it's around my hometown). I've even gone so far as to go out of state to meet them and surprisingly, it's worked. I just hope that this girl will realize that all she has to do is try. You never know, it may just work. And before I forget, the Backstreet Boys have added more dates to the "Into The Millennium" tour, which will start in February and end in March. Dates and the day tickets go on sale haven't been announce yet. As soon as they are, they will be posted. After the tour has ended, the Boys will head to the studio to record their next album, which is expected to be released in September 2000. **Later today**
Well, since I had nothing better to do than watch soap operas, I watched Passions from beginning to end for the first time ever. I still think it's corny as hell, but one thing I did enjoy was during one of the scenes at a local cafe, "Larger Than Life" was playing in the background. That made me so happy. Anyway, here is a prime example of what I wrote about earlier. I just read a review about the Dolphins/Bills game on the 14th. Some eager BSB fans waited after the Boys sang the "National Anthem" to leave the stadium. What do you know when AJ comes walking out, but with a bunch of security. And since there was a crowd of girls there, security wouldn't let them get autographs. He also said that the other Boys had left through different exits. Two BSB fans were not fooled and they were right. While the other girls went home, a few fans decided to stick it out and wait a little while longer. The wait was worth it 'cause after a while, Kevin came out with security surrounding him. The security wasn't about to let a few fans get autographs, but Kevin, being the nice guy that he is, told them to come on over. He stood there, signing autographs and talking to the fans, then left. Goes to show, a little planning pays off.

November 19th: The nominations for the 1999 Billboard Awards have been announced and the Backstreet Boys are in the following categories: "Artists Of The Year", "Album Of The Year"- Millennium, "Duo/Group Artists", "Hot 100 Singles Artists", and "Album Artists". Congratulations, Boys!!! Good Luck!!

November 23th: Okay. It's my (LeAndra) one day back home before I leave again. The Backstreet Boys held a press and fan conference in Las Vegas. It will be aired at www.backstreetboys.com on November 30th. Louis J. Pearlman is looking for some investers for his TransCon Co. Personally, I wouldn't get involved with him, but who am I to say nobody else should. Samantha Stonebraker was on the TV show, Extra. Unfortunately, I missed it, but I've been told she was pretty nice and well-spoken. The Backstreet Boys have issued a statement addressing the scalping situation they learned about in Denver: "We've done everything we can to prevent scalping, from limiting the number of tickets purchased to distributing wristbands," said the statement. "To think scalping of this type occurred at the Denver show infuriated us. With us, the fans always come first and anything that compromises our connection with them will always be addressed and properly investigated. We were horrified to learn that our fans in Denver were manipulated and ripped off this way." I think they're right to be angry. Some people will do anything to make money and they used the Backstreet Boys to do it.

November 29th: Brian has once again showed his old high school choir at Tates Creek High School that he totally appreciates their help on the Millennium album by inviting them to perform with the Backstreet Boys at their concerts in Kentucky this past weekend. Brian sure knows how to show his gratitude. It seems like the Dorough family members in Alabama are somewhat local celebrities in the Birmingham area. They've had the requests for an autograph or a meeting with the Backstreet Boys piling up since they became one of the most popular in the world. Sad to say that Howie's superstardom status has made him less available to his family in Alabama than he used to be for security reasons. They don't mind. They're proud of Howie all the same. And trust that the relatives of the other Backstreet Boys have probably had the same kind of attention brought to them. Anything for a connection. Nick and Kevin were named as two of Lime Magazines' "Pop's 10 Most Powerful People". That's really cool. The numbers are in for the highest grossing concerts thru November 16th. Backstreet Boys take #1- November 6-8 concerts in Auburn Hills, Mich; #2- October 21-22 concerts in San Jose, CA; and #10 November 14th in Buffalo, NY. Now for the best news. Millennium has been certified as 9x platinum in the USA. Keep those numbers climbing!!!

November 30th: Fatima Robinson's homevideo, Go Fatima, is in stores today, so if you want to learn the dance move to Backstreet Boys' video "Everybody", go out and get it. Howie is participating in Read for 2000, a national classroom reading campaign encouraging thousands of students to Read for 2000 seconds (or 33 1/2 minutes) on December 10th at exactly 12:00pm Eastern Time. Every school day thru December 10th the Read for 2000 website will have a picture and quote from all participating celebrities. The homevideo, Backstreet Boys: Standing Room Only" has been reported to be in stores today, but various fans have gone their local video stores and have been told the release date is February 13, 2000. They've been allowed to pre-order, so if you want to do that, go ahead. The video will have behind-the-scenes looks at the "I Want It That Way" and "Larger Than Life" videos as well as some live performances from the Boys' Summer Tour last year. A radio station in Texas has announced that ticket sales for a March 3rd Dallas concert has been pushed back to December 11th and if that show is sold out, the Boys will add another show for December 4th. Go to Tour Dates to find out the "unofficial" tour dates for next year's tour. As you all have most likely heard by now, "Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely" is going to be the third single of the Millennium album. The best part is, the single WILL BE COMMERCIALLY SOLD in the USA. It will be in stores all around the country late December, I think. Finally, something I don't have to have imported.

December 2nd: ATTENTION, EVERYONE!!! STANDING ROOM ONLY IS BEING SOLD AT "HASTINGS". So, if you live near one or know someone who does, I suggest you go there or contact that person who lives near it. All of my brothers live near one, so I'm covered. Backstreet Boys are nominated for "Best Music Group or Band" at the People's Choice Awards. It will be aired on January 9, 2000 at 9-11pm EST. Good luck, guys!!!

December 3rd: Well, I'm coming home tonight or tomorrow morning, don't know which. I've had an absolute blast out here in New Mexico. My brother is way cool for letting me stay with him. Anyway, Backstreet Boys have a new product on the market: Backstreet Boys 2000 Weekly Planner!! It has a lot of awesome pictures in there, so go out and get it. Backstreet Boys on Access Hollywood tonight at 7:30pm, so be sure to watch. Here's other appearances:

The official Spring 2000 Tour Dates have now been posted on the Boys' official site. Check Tour Dates to see they're coming anywhere near you.

December 5th: Backstreet Boys have been nominated in various categories for the 1999 Teen.com Entertainment Awards. They've been nominated for "Best Group", "Best Song- Group" for "Larger Than Life" and "I Want It That Way", "Best CD" for Millennium, and Nick Carter and Brian Littrell have both been nominated for "Hottest Male". Showtime got the numbers in for Musical Event of the Decade and "Backstreet Boys In Concert" came in #2. The only event they couldn't beat was "Woodstock '94".

December 6th: Backstreet Boys struck gold at the 1999 Smash Hits Awards yesterday, having five awards sent to them. They won "Best Band on Planet Pop", "Best Non-British Band", "Best Single" for "I Want It That Way", "Best Album" for Millennium, and "Best Pop Video" for "Larger Than Life". Nick won 3rd place for "Most Fancible Male" and 3rd place for "Best Male Haircut". Although the Boys weren't able to attend, a small "thank you" was taped and played. The Boys were #6 for Entertainer of the Year on E! last night. Since I didn't see it, I don't know who could've possibly been better than them. Finally, tickets for the February 17th concert in Charlotte, North Carolina are reported to be going on sale on December 11th. Here are some TV appearances:
12/08/99- 1999 Billboard Music Awards on Fox @ 8pm
12/11/99- Rock of Ages on VH1 @ 10:30am
12/11/99- Ultrasound: Year In Rock on MTV @ 3:30pm
12/21/99- Pop Up Video on VH1 @ 9:30am; the "As Long As You Love Me" video
12/21/99- Teen Idol's on VH1 @ ??; not confirmed
1/09/2000- People's Choice Awards on CBS @ 9-11pm; unclear on whether the Boys will be there
1/17/1000- American Music Awards on ABC @ 8pm; the Boys might be presenting
2/23/2000- Grammy Awards on ABC @ 8pm; unclear on whether the Boys will be there

December 7th: Before the Vikings game on Monday, they had the Backstreet Boys singing the chorus to I Want It That Way, all of them were wearing jerseys. When the chorus came to "I never wanna hear you say," Kevin caught a football and instead of finishing the chorus, Kevin screamed "LETS GET READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL!" and they all tackled each other. On the award front, the Boys have been nominated for "Favorite Pop/Rock Band/Duo/Group" and "Favorite Pop/Rock Album" at the American Music Awards. Well, everybody knows how funny Brian is, right? In recognition for this ability to make people laugh, he took 4th place for "Funniest Person In The World" at the 1999 Smash Hits Awards. Here's something to add to your Backstreet Boys collection. New "Millennium Card Collection" is being sold. Finally, the Boys will be part of a Tours of '99 feature on MTV News 1515 on December 10th at 7:00pm. Be sure to watch. Last but certainly not least, we'd like to say "Happy 12th Birthday" to Nick's little brother and sister, Aaron and Angel Carter.

December 9th: The Backstreet Boys totally ruled the 1999 Billboard Awards last night. They won four out five categories they were nominated in: "Artist Of The Year", "Album Of The Year" for Millennium, "Albums Artist Of The Year", and "Albums Duo/Group Artist Of The Year". Claudia was with Howie, as was his sister Pollyanna, and Amanda was with AJ, but I didn't see Kristin, Leighanne, or Mandy. Leighanne could've missed the awards due to the filming of her movie. All the Boys looked great, except Nick. His hair was a big ol' mess. That excuse he gave about being late, just getting off a plane and all, I don't think it was true. I think he lost a bet 'cause he had from the time they left to stage after winning "Album Of The Year" to when they won "Artist Of The Year" at the end of the show to fix it and he didn't. Speaking of Nick, he got another tatoo on December 6th, before the last Ft. Lauderdale, FL. It's a band done halfway around his right bicep. This was the closing show for this leg of the Into The Millennium Tour and it was ended with watergun fights and shaving cream. The Boys always said they end the last show of a tour in a crazy way. Mission Accomplished. Speaking of the tour, it's been announced that tickets to all dates for the Spring 2000 Tour will go on sale December 11th, this SATURDAY. Could there be another connection between the Backstreet Boys and McDonalds, besides AJ going there every day? At the Las Vegas conference, Nick hinted they could be appearing on the "Happy Meal" box next year, and Kevin hinted they could be doing a jingle for the popular eating place. Definitely a perfect match. VH1.com is auctioning off a Backstreet Boys signed jacket, so empty your piggy banks if you want that jacket. The video for "Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely", the third single of Millennium, is to debut on MTV December 31st. What a perfect way to end the millennium and go into another. For me, anyway. Finally, Backstreet Boys are once again at #2 on the Billboard Charts with Millennium.
**Later Today**
I hope all you fans were watching Access Hollywood because the Backstreet Boys were on tonight. A small story was done on the Billboard Awards and they showed the Backstreet Boys arriving at the MGM Grand and did a small interview with them. Actually, it was just Nick telling why he looked so tore up. Okay, so maybe he didn't lose a bet.....

December 12th: AJ has created an alter-ego named "Johnny Suede", and plans to put on a concert January 9th (his 22nd birthday) to help raise money for "Save The Music". Tickets went on sale yesterday at 10:00am for $15 each. "Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely" is already getting major airplay a week before it's official radio release on December 14th. It's already one of the most requested songs and it's being played on more than thirty radio stations around the country. Some changes for tickets sales for the Spring 2000 Tour have been made. Houston and San Antonio, Texas, have announced tickets will go on sale December 18th. Also, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Greenville, South Carolina, have yet to announce the date tickets go on sale for their shows. Here's some awesome news. Millennium has been certified 10x platinum (or Diamond) in the USA. WAY TO GO, BACKSTREET BOYS!!! Now, on a sadder note, a family of four were in a car accident on their way home from the last of three BSB concerts they went to see. Star 94 held a contest to see three Backstreet Boys concerts and a mother of two won the contest. She took her daughter, son, and husband. On the way home, the mother was driving and she took a wrong turn, crashing into a truck. Unfortunately, the mother was killed. Her husband and two children are in the hospital. I, as well as many others, felt this should be made public knowledge to all the fans and for you to keep that family in your thoughts and prayers.

December 18th: If you've already heard this, bear with me. I've been gone and just got back today. Backstreet Boys took the #10 spot on the "Top 10 Tours of '99". Greenville, SC, and Oklahoma City, OK, have yet to announce when tickets go onsale while tickets for Houston and San Antonio, TX, went onsale today. Tickets to some of the shows went onsale today. Many of the shows for the Spring 2000 Tour have been sold out. Check Tour Dates for more specifics. After hearing about the incident concerning Backstreet Boys tickets and the House Of Blues, Pearl Jam and Korn have decided to join the boycott and seek venues not promoted by the House Of Blues. Millennium came in at #5 on the Wall Of Sound Readers' "Top 25 Albums of the 1999". AJ McLean will soon be having his own official website at www.ajmclean.com. A 12 Millennium Singles Box Set is now being sold at Best Buy and online at CDnow and E-bay. Check here to see what the box set consists of. Are are now a set of Backstreet Boys stamps and that all I know about that. The Backstreet Boys management, The Firm, has asked eBay to have 700 ticket auctions removed. eBay have yet to comment. December 20th: I was completely astounded at what I saw. Millennium on the "Worst of Song" list in the December 31st issue of People Magazine??? That's right. This awesome CD was on this list. Most of you probably disagree and wanna tell the editor so, right? Well, you can do that by emailing the editor at editor@people.com. Tell how you think they are seriously mistaken in putting Millennium on that list. You can added this in your message. The Backstreet Boys debut album Backstreet Boys came in a #10 and Millennium came in at #16 on Billboard's "Top Albums of the Decade" and Millennium came in at #1 on the "Top 200 Albums of '99". You can also tell them that Backstreet Boys came in at #3 on the "Top Pop Duo/Group of the Decade". I checked out the official AJ McLean site and it's up, but has nothing on it as of yet. So keep checking as it's being put together.

December 21st: Not much to tell, but here goes. According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), the Backstreet Boys are the Best-Selling Recording Act of 1999. "I Want It That Way" made it on a list of songs that define the '90s. Also, "I Want It That Way" was #1 of '99 on The Box. All Pop readers voted that the Backstreet Boys recorded the best single of the year. Since the filming of Brian's girlfriend, Leighanne Wallace's movie wrapped up, I've learned that in Brian's cameo part, he is playing a carriage driver. Vote for "Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely" on January 3rd and put the Backstreet Boys at #1 the first day of the new millennium on Total Request Live. Here are some TV appearances:

December 24th: Well, you heard the Backstreet Boys might be on the cover of Rolling Stone in their underwear, right? It's true. On Entertainment Tonight yesterday night, they showed the cover of the Boys with their pants down. Get ready to run to the nearest magazine stand 'cause it goes on sale on December 31st. It was close, but the Backstreet Boys' Millennium out-sold Britney Spear's Baby, One More Time.... by one million copies, according to RIAA. Alright, Backstreet Boys!!! Teen People.com conducted online polls and the result is in and the Backstreet Boys were voted "Best Boy Band", "Musical Act With All The Right Moves", "Best Milk Mustache", "Best Music Video" for "I Want It That Way", "Best Celeb Facial Hair" goes to AJ McLean, and "Best Creative Coif" goes to AJ McLean.

December 27th: Hey folks! Just a lil news, while I was going through the liner notes of Mandy Moore's CD, I saw that Obie Morant(BSB's old sax/percussionist) wrote a song on there, and it's one of my favorites, ok I just thought I would that you know that!! Also I was looking through the liner notes of the Pokemon Sntrk, and I found the Mandy(Nick's gf) co-wrote her song "Lullaby", all she did all the vocals and the vocal arrangements, I was very impressed, because it's a really good song. And finally, I'm sure you all know about our boys being on the cover of Rolling Stone in nothing but their boxers, I just wanted to give you guys a little visual:

Great news is next. Millennium has been certified 11x platinum by RIAA. AWESOME!!! Now for some TV stuff:

December 28th: Not much on the news front. If you don't feel like logging onto the web to watch the announcement of Grammy nominations on January 4th, E! will televising it live at 8:30am to 9:30am. "Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely" debuted at #74 on the Billboard Hot 100 from just airplay alone. Still no word when the single goes on sale in the USA, if it is in fact going on sale here. On one of those late night shows that I never watch cause I'm either online or asleep or watching a movie, Kathy Griffth was a guest. The host was asking her about hosting the Billboard Awards earlier this month and he eventually brought up the Backstreet Boys. Kathy Griffth was telling how she had to go through all the bigwigs of the Boys' record company to get permission to sit on one of the Boys' lap. They told her no, but she could ask them a few questions. Well, she went backstage where the Backstreet Boys were with their "hookers", and asked Kevin if she could sit in his lap. Yes, Kathy Griffth actually called the Backstreet Girlfriends that were there "hookers". While I know she was saying that in a joking fashion (come on, it's a little funny), I don't think she should try saying that one in public again. I heard the Rolling Stone with the Boys on the cover in their boxers is on magazine stands now. I don't know if that's true, but just to make sure you get one, I'd go check.

December 30th: Backstreet Boys came out on top in the Rolling Stone Readers' Poll, being voted "Artist of the Year", "Band of the Year", "Album of the Year" for Millennium, "Single of the Year" for "I Want It That Way", "Best Tour", "Best Video" for "Larger Than Life", "Best Dressed", "Best Album Cover", "Best Fan Site", and "Best Hype". That's a lot. The Boys' Into The Millennium Tour came in #7 on the Top 20 Biggest-Grossing North American Tours of 1999. Way to support your favorite group, Backstreet Fans!!! That's about all the news I've had the strength to find out because I (LeAndra) am sick. And right before New Year's Eve. Doesn't matter, I'm still going clubbing.....
