I probably would have quit subscribing to it by now. Thank you for your
efforts. (And if it weren't for you, there wouldn't even _be_ a Foreign

Dear fellow Asianscribes,
"...I really appreciate Simon's and George's notes of the past couple days.
They're both right; if we value the list (as I for one do),
we need to participate -- we make and build and maintain the list ourselves;
we make it into what it can and should be.
I recall how a couple months ago a few people were actually complaining about
George posting TOO MUCH to the list, and I contributed to say how much I
appreciated his postings.
I've learned a lot about particular topics, and about other lists,
from George's postings..."

Thank you George,
Thanks for pointing out the BGH issue. As an investigative reporter, I
found story slants a real issue. When slanting a story to protect
advertising investments, over-rides the public's right to know what is
in their food and drink; one must ask if the profit margin is worth more
than life. I commend you for pointing out the current situation with Fox.
Writers can make an intelligent decision if profit out-weighs truth, in
determining if they wish to write for that media outlet.

Though it has, yet, to advance my career in journalism, from
starry - eyed - journalist - wanna - be to real reporter,
it reminded me why I want to be a journalist, in the first place.
The piece about the copy editors was hilarious and, a little forlorn
from a never-ending job search, I was immediately re-inspired.
I will be a journalist because I love to write and because,
though I've never written anything quite as moving as
"The two suit-cases landed first...," I know I can because journalism is an
all-encompassing field of writing. You can be creative or
straight-laced, as long as you're good.
Thanks again. With renewed enthusiasm,
