The Magic Knight of Water

Umi prides herself on being one heckuva cool beauty, but she sure loses it when she gets peeved!

Having been chosen by the spirits of Water to go rescue the imprisoned Princess Emeraude, she deftly blocks the paths of anyone who dares to intrude upon the peace and serenity of Cephiro which are, in themselves, tenuous enough.

So, if you find yourself face to face with a tall, blue-haired battlemaid who plots to dump a whole waterspout in your face, stand clear: it's Umi!

Back to The CLAMP Dojo-Manila:

Umi Ryuuzaki

(Also known as Marina in the Spanish/French/Filipino versions, Marina Rassler in the upcoming novel in English, and Marina Ramirez in the live-action Filipino film.)

Hometown: Tokyo, Japan/New York/Manila

Birthday: 02 March

Zodiac Sign: Pisces

Loves: fencing, English poetry, baking stuff

Hates: sweets, cobwebs, embroidery

Weapons: rapier, Ice Blade spell, Blue Tornado spell, Blue Lightning spell

Family: Mama and Papa; no sibs, thank God!

Umi first strikes one as a bitchy sort of girl because she's so outspoken. She and Hikaru tend to balance each other's temperaments because `Karu-chan is so intense and Umi is so cool. Still, Umi knows her responsibilities to the other Magic Knights.

She's got this long-standing feud with Guru Clef because she's prone to insulting him about his height. But, if you're in a pinch, Umi's grace and speed are enough to get you out of trouble.

Does Umi Like Ascot?

In all the versions of the Magic Knight Rayearth storyline, the odd romance(?) between Umi Ryuuzaki and the young spirit-summoner Ascot is present - and never really gets resolved to anyone's satisfaction!

Umi either likes him or hates him or is completely indifferent to the formerly diminutive now towering sorcerer.

What happens next to these two is anyone's guess...
