Chuck Prophet originally thundered out of So Cal as a tot and moved to The East Bay where his lousy teenage punk group "Bad Attitude" played many now defunct venues like Berkeley Square and The Mabuhay Gardens. He was eventually spotted in 1984 by a travelling waystrel orchestra called Green On Red, and received his musical education on the road as a young apprentice rapscallion in that seminal eighties college rock group. To familiarize yourself with the legacy of Green On Red check out their Best Of CD Rock and Roll Disease. Originally famous almost more for their ribald road antics and unquenchable thirst for beverages, than their music...Green On Red, did manage to release several acclaimed and influential albums.

Head Honcho Dan Stuart and his resident bad boy Chuck continued making records and touring together until the early nineties. Along the way they made friends and probably even more enemies than money until finally hanging it up circa 1993. As time and monotony went on, Chuck decided to concentrate on his burgeoning solo career in S.F and began putting a solid band together via some informal jam sessions around town. Eventually he hooked up with a like minded musical partner in Stephanie Finch and they've been making records together ever since. Brother Aldo is one of their finer recordings and was  re-released in the late 90's by ex-CBS records exec Walter Yetnikoff's boutique label imprint VelVel Records.

Recently Stef put together her own project featuring Mark "ill media" Reitman on turntables and Chuck as well. The band pumps, percolates and sways through a variety of material that highlight Steffie's vocals.

It's called Go Go Market and they've been rocking the house opening for bands like "Boxset" and "? & The Mysterions" and picking up rave reviews all over San Francisco.

Chuck is also a sought after session guitarist and his licks can be heard on all sorts of recordings including jams with unlikely suspects such as  Penelope Houston, Jewel, Cake, Mike Peters of the Alarm, and southern roots rocker Jim Dickinson.

A Live French import album of Jim and Chuck is available called "A Thousand Footprints In The Sand" was recorded at Slims in SF with Chuck on guitar and is a grimy backwater bar room feast.
