DMU 107 - Proposed Demonstration Area For
Quality Deer Management
Three Point on One Side Antler Requirement
Proposal Benefits
Improve Welfare of the Deer Herd
History: Poor buck/doe ratio and lack of mature bucks; too many deer in DMU 107; many hunters don't utilize doe permits.
Improved hunter satisfaction .
Have to experience to fully appreciate.
Personal reflections.
Program is experimental
Hunters will be surveyed at the end of each year.
Program will not be continued without general acceptance and benefit to the deer herd.
Concluding Remarks
This proposal is a whole lot more than antler requirements. The focal point is on improving the welfare of the deer herd in DMU 107.
