MOIST Bio and Discography
MOIST is a rockin' Canadian band who hail from Vancouver, British Columbia
but are now living in Montreal, Quebec. They debuted in 1992, with
an independant release, an EP. They released their first single Push,
along with a video. The video was done very fast and for very little money.
It got heavy rotation on MuchMusic, which
was not a big surprise considering how amazing they are! :)
Later in 1994, they signed a record deal with EMI Music Canada. Their
first CD Silver was released in '94. It went quadruple-platinum
in Canada and gold in Tawain.
Here's a list of the songs on their first Cd Silver:
- Push
- Believe Me
- Kill for You
- Silver
- Freaky Be Beautiful
- Break Her Down
- Into Everything
- Picture Elvis
- Machine Punch Through
- This Shrieking Love
- Low Low Low
If you're wondering what the heck is on the cover of Silver, well it's a ribcage painted silver. In an interview Jeff did, he said, "A friend of ours from Vancouver, whose very skinny. We painted her silver and photographed her ribs. We wanted to make an interesting record cover. It was kind of a striking image that we had an idea of. There's no rational for it at all, we just thought it would be an interesting cover....

Well after about 2 1/2 years of touring all over the world, MOIST headed
back to the studio and in October 1996 released Creature, their second CD in Canada.
Creature is quite different from Silver. They incorporated many
new instruments into their songs, such as a trumpet in the song
Creature and a chello in Tangerine. The reasons for incorporating
these instruments was that this time around MOIST had a lot more time
and money to experiment with different sounds while recording.
There are also a lot more melodic songs on Creature, Disco Days for example is a beautiful slow song.
I can't say which CD I prefer they're both amazing and special! And if you're wondering who's on the cover of Creature, it's David. As you can see he has THE ring on. Should've known it was him!:)
Here's a list of the songs on Creature:
- Hate
- Theme From Cola
- Resurrection
- Leave it Alone
- Creature
- Shotgun
- Disco Days
- Tangerine
- Better than You
- Baby Skin Tattoo
- Ophelia
- Gaseoline
