There are "Foreign Spies Among Us". Spies, who lurk in the shadows with very small cameras, tape records, and Micro-Video Recorders. But don't worry my fellow Moscow residents, these spies are not here to subvert our Government or threaten our way of life. Instead they're here to help our business to grow and prosper. They are here to help fight Organized Crime Gangs, which threaten industry and hindering establishment of Foreign Business interests in Moscow and St. Petersburg as well as in Countries like Bulgaria, Lithiuania and Romania.
These Spies are part of an International Private Investigative Agency known as "Globalscan Network" and also as "Globalscan Investigations". The members of this most secretive International Private Spy Agency are not the typical Spies that we grew up reading about and have learned to fear. These spies are in fact well dressed and mannerly gentleman like Randal Bundy. Who also happens to be the Founder, CEO and Director of Globalscan Network.
I first became aware that he was scheduled to visit Moscow in July through a friend of mine Anna, who is a modern day St. Petersburg Private Investigator. Anna is also Director of Globalscan in St. Peterberg and a former KGB Operative during the 1980's. Anna herself has more of the appearance of a "Cover-Girl Model" for Vogue Magazine than she does a Modern Day Private Spy of an International Agency. She showed me the web-pages of Globalscan Network on the "Internet" and arranged for me to have exclusive interviews and to spend time with the Moscow members of Globalscan and the International Director himself during his visit here.
I first met with Randal Bundy in the plush surroundings of the Victorian style five-star "Savoy Hotel" of Moscow, which was built in 1912. Just the kind of setting one might expect of participants of International Intrigue and Espionage. But upon meeting him, you would not imagine that this attractive and younger that expected man is in reality the International Director of one of the largest and most secretive Private Spy Agencies. And neither would his manner give one a clue as to what he was really doing in Moscow.
Globalscan Network was founded in October 1989 and works for the Private Sector and for Fortune 500 companies through out the world. It is known that the staff consists of both Veteran KGB Officers and American CIA Officers and Operatives as well as former Police Officers ....Yes, they have known each other for many years. As explained to me by Anna, they have always been colleagues to some degree, although "Once upon a time" they did happened to be on opposing sides.
Speeding through the dark city streets of Moscow in a Black Mercedes with two former KGB Officers in the front seat, Randal Bundy, Anna and myself in the back seat, one gets the feeling of just entered a surrealistic world seen only in a Hollywood Film. Randal Bundy's history remains something of a mystery because he will not discuss it with anyone "outside the fold" as he says. Although he is an American, one does note a slight "English" accent. I found him to be a mystery inside of a mystery, shrouded in mystery. We spent a good part of the evening having dinner and drinks at Moscow's famous ""Marika" Night Club on Petrovka St., below the soft lighting, excellent music and the bright pictures by Andrey Malkov, the very talented artist and winner of the Moscow Government's prize.
At one point I was left alone with Anna while Randal Bundy, accompanied by others were off at another table meeting with whom I later learned to be a Moscow Bank Manager and a President of a Major International Company. Apparently this evening was intended for business as well as pleasure. Anna explained that there were KGB files revealing his long history of what is known as a "collector" during the 1980's and 1990's. What is a collector, I asked". She explained that the word "collector" indicates a "field officer" of a certain American Agency as compared to an annalist or one who is not a field Officer". I asked if this was how Globalscan Network had so many Operatives and contacts through out the world, and Anna just smiled.
After dinner I found this charming SpyMaster, and myself at The Pushkin Fine Arts Museum enjoying the Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings on display. Later At Teatralnaya Ploshchad (Theatrical Square), to attend the operas "La Boheme" by Puccini and "Khovanshchina" by Musorgsky.
When the evening was finished, I found that I had indeed enjoyed a rare glimpse into a world that for most of us exists only in Spy Movies or within the pages of Romance / Mystery Novels. A secret world of Intrigue and Espionage that remarkably does exist for a few lucky ones like Anna, and Randal Bundy and the other Spies of Globalscan Network. It is a World, which I have made sure to leave my phone number registered with and of which I am hoping to visit again soon.
