WinchLock STANDARD SERIES - HIGH SECURITY |
SPARE TIRE THEFT PROTECTION
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
STEP ONE
Lower the spare tire for access to the winch mechanism, frame cross-member and the black triangular metal shield to the rear of the winch mechanism. Locate the two small holes stamped in the shield, parallel to the flat forward edge.
STEP TWO
Use the provided hardware, consisting of a 3/8" x 1" bolt, locknut, and two flat washers to attach the U-bracket to the metal sheild. Use a 3/8" drill bit to enlarge the 1/4" hole on the left (driver's) side of the metal shield. Install the 3/8" bolt with one flat washer through the mounting hole in the U-bracket from the bottom side of the metal sheild, with the second flat washer and locknut on the inside of the sheild. Position the U-bracket as shown in picture and tighten the locknut. |
STEP THREE
Install the lock bar through the holes in both legs of the U-bracket, with the grooved end facing toward the rear of the vehicle. Place the crimp-ring retainer in the groove and crimp closed with pliers.
STEP FOUR
Raise the spare tire while guiding the lower end of lock bar through the lug hole least obstructed by the winch cable retaining plate in the center of the wheel. The lock bar must remain vertical as spare tire is returned to the full up/stored position.
|
STEP FIVE The PVC lock bar cover/seal is designed to center and hold the lock firmly against the tapered surface of the lug hole. Hold lock inverted with the PVC cover/seal end up. Place lock over the end of the lock bar. Slide lock upward against the tapered surface of the lug hole and rotate to engage lock mechanism with the lock bar groove.
