Anthony La Paglia stars as a priest facing the ultimate test of faith in this powerful World War II drama. With the German presence growing in their village, the people of Valano try to go about their daily lives. Among them is the quiet priest Don Paulo (LaPaglia). As Don Paulo helps the villagers through the atrocities of the war, he attempts to cope with the battle within his heart: he has fallen in love with a beautiful woman, Adriana. When a resistance group needs help contacting the Americans to tell them where the Nazis are hiding, Don Paulo agrees to the heroic and dangerous task. But when Don Paulo disappears, Adriana, thinking he has been killed, volunteers to deliver the message. It is an act that will forever change the course of their lives.
