A clever combination of horror film, character study and social comment, director Mike Nichol's Wolf has first rate performances. Publishing-house editor Jack Nicholson finds himself bested on all sides as his company changes hands and a smarmy protege co-opts his job. However, an accidental encounter with a wolf gives Nicholson a new attitude.
