Artcraft Canadian Cachets
The Cachet on the top row (249-01) used for the US Win the War
stamp, issued 4 July 1942, has also been used for the Canadian War Series
issued 3 days earlier. It is one of only 3 cachets listed illustrated in
the Planty-Mellone US FDC Encyclopedia whose cachet is generic enough to
qualify as appropriate for Canada's War issue. Contrarily to most American
cachets for the "Win the War Stamp", it's eagle is not prominent and it
bears no American Flag nor the date "July 4, 1942". The legends: Shipbuilding,
Food Production and Aircraft production on the cachets, perfectly match
several stamps of the War series.
