Breast cancer has been a part of my life for several years now. My maternal aunt, Nina Moretti 1925-1995, died of breast cancer after a very valiant fight. All of a sudden the statistics hit home and monthly breast self exams became part of my life.

In the course of a persons life there are events whose dates stay permanently etched in your brain. Your birthday, wedding, the birth of your children or the death of a loved one. For me there are two more dates. The first is the date of my Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis -- 11/24/97. And now added to the list is the day that I found a lump in my left breast -- 10/24/99.

After my family doctor did a breast exam he set up an appointment for my mammography. I'm normally a pretty relaxed person but this hit me pretty hard. For me my faith is a daily part of my life and I turned to my Lord for the strength to deal with this. I am truly blessed to have so many people who went to prayer for me!

To make a long story short...

He heard those prayers and everything is OK. I have to keep an eye on the "lump" and if it changes I have to get in to see my doctor right away. But, that is something I would do anyway.
