These are only a few of the amazing facts presented in Mr Kennedy's book; hopefully enough to provoke additional reading...
-- The mass and size of the earth: if the earth was 10% larger or smaller, life would not be possible on our planet. -- If the distance of our earth from the sun was any closer or further from the sun, like that of Mercury or Venue, we would freeze or burn. -- The tilt of the earth (23 degrees) is unlike any other planet in our solar system. Without this tilt, one portion of the earth would freeze and another would be too hot for us to live. -- The moon makes it possible for us to live. Without it, our oceans would be giant cesspools, making it impossible for us to live near them. The tide created by the gravitational pull of the moon aerates the ocean, providing oxygen for the plankton, which is a major food source for sea life. -- Our atmosphere is unique to any other atmosphere in the known universe. It is comprised of 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, and 1% other various trace elements. If it was any thinner, we would be crushed by space debris. -- The nitrogen is necessary for plant life and is replenished by lightning. -- The ozone is some 40 miles up. It blocks 8 killer rays, preventing us from burning and from being blinded. At the same time, it allows necessary rays to kill algae and prevent destructive overgrowth. WATER: -- As ICE, it breaks up rocks and produces soil. -- As SNOW, it stores up water in valleys. -- As RAIN, it waters and cleanses the earth. -- As VAPOR, provides moisture. -- As CLOUD COVER, it covers 50% of the earth's surface, allowing the right amount of light. -- It is the only substance other than Bismuth that is heavier at 4 degrees Celsius, than it is at freezing. When it is frozen, it rises because it becomes lighter. This saves the ocean and sea life from being destroyed. It also saves the algae, which in turn continues the oxygen cycle that is required for us all to live. -- All other substances contract when they freeze, and expand when they are hot. But not water; it does the opposite. Isn't God's Providence awesome?!
