How Wonderful
How wonderful, as waiting ends,
That men and angels meet as friends
To celebrate the Christ Child's birth
As starry peace descends to earth
To bath with light an ancient town
That will forever be reknowned!
How wonderful a manger holds
A King, not clad in silks and golds
But rather wrapped in swaddling clothes
No court's designer ever chose
And that a stable's rustic wals
Supplant some mansion's stately halls!
How wonderful that wisemen three
Should see at once His deity
While humble shepherds hear on high
Joyous hosannas pierce the sky!
More wonderful, in faith's sunrise -
God's love revealed in Mary's eyes!
