  • A projection into the future of all the people requirements of an organization
  • Will anticipate likely changes in the future needs for management, staff at all levels, and the skills that are required to carry out the various roles in the future successfully
  • Needs to ensure that up-to-date records are kept on all members of staff
  • A succession plan can often consist of three dimensions-immediate term, medium term and longer term
  • Clearly as the organization projects towards the longer term it is more likely that changes will need to be anticipated, possibly changes and sometimes reacted to.
