the NAME:
NAFUDA started in mid 1997, on the way back from filmming the opening sequence of a personal project/video of mine, in the car was Maurice Juwono, Mike Ubowski, and Tyson Gifford (ME), Mike was leaning out the window of the car yelling NAFUDA, which he picked up from a recording of a song on Genesis Survivor that had the last part of another word at the beggining, where the tape cut in, we could have all sworn the guy on the tape said NAFUDA, he didn't, but it stuck. Later on in the day Maurice and Myself joked around about making a secret cult like like club with some special handshake, we jokingly did the old "Fresh Prince" handshake, but yelled nafuda, on the thumbs back, at the time this was purly a joke. The Next Day at School, we were hanging out with our friends, and we showed them our fake handshake, everyone thought it was cool, and we told them about the club Idea. And that in itself is how NAFUDA started, with the core group of Mike Ubowski, Maurice Juwono, Tyson Gifford, Brandon Erwin, Bryan Thierry, Adrianne Grady, Gary Watters, Jason Cavalier. Other members joined later on ( full list of members eill be posted later).

Expo 97:
But yet the NAFUDA was still unofficial, also that year a group of us were planning to go to Anime Expo 97, out of the group 3 went for the whole 3 days (Maurice, Bryan, Tyson), jokingly we had "NAFUDA" printed on our badges, along with Banzai Anime which is alot of the reason we went to expo in the first place. Durring the expo we recieved lots of questions as to whatexactly NAFUDA was, that's when we knew this could be cool. On the second day of the expo we were joined up with Adrianne, and Damon (who we never really liked, he's kind of what we call a bi+ch boy). We planned to go again the following year, but with a large group, we also planned on participating in the masquerade (and dominating it)

Expo aftermath:
Expo was so cool that we instantly planned for the next one, this time planning for a large group (nearly 20 ppl), but a lot of that died down, we went with a group of 8. A lot of stuff happened durring that time, alot of conflict, between the group, but we held strong stuck it through and got ready for Expo 98, all along the way gaining members, and I started the first webpage bassed on NAFUDA, which made us official, and gained us some interest. I personally made a few music videos in the name of NAFUDA which would have been entered at ax98 if it wasn't for my poor planning of the video entries. Also durring this time we e-mailed cult famous actor Bruce Campbell and asked him if he would enjoy being a part of the NAFUDA as an honorary member, he accepted, making him the first celebrity nafuda member. among one of the more impostant things we did durring this year was to make names for ourselves in WBS Anime, a chat forum, which allowed us to meet up with other anime fans who showed interest in our group. Also we made connections with another group who we were gonna team up with at ax98.

Expo 98:
We left early for expo 98 and were very tired for the first day, our group consisted of Maurice, Bryan, Jason C., Adrianne, Brandon, Gary, Steve Lisjack, and Tyson. Also with us but not sleeping in the hotel were Mike, Donovan (maurice's bro), and (Maurice's cousin). While there we joined up with new friends Miko, Eric, Billy, and Kyle, as well as several other ppl who off and on hung out with us. We had fun. but with such a large group there was lots of conflict, and I wasn't about to deal with it well, planning this expo was a living hell right up to the expo itself. We participated in the masquearde as a 17 person group, we thought for sure we would win something, the audiance loved us to death, but we didn't win squat, or even get honorable notice, but we were on the only participans on the cover of the next mornings news letter where they talked about the masquerade and said that some ppl shouldn't have won, and others that didn't should have (you do the math). It was a big ego boost for us, and we had many ppl wanting to join us, and we hardly advertised, so we set the determination that at the next one we would wear NAFUDA T-Shirts. Well the expo went on like this, cool stuff, and bad stuff, personally I thought that 97 was better, but 98 was big for us (details on our skit and other realted stuff will be posted later)

Expo 98 aftermath:
That brings us mostly to date, we are larger, are doing more, and will be way bigger next year, more info will be in posts that will come at a later time.
