Bad Love - A Review
Bad Love is the story of Lenny (Tom Sizemore) and Eloise-2 doomed lovers on a nowhere path. Lenny is a lovable, lonely,misunderstood man...all he wants is a chance to succeed in life and someone to give him that chance and have faith in him. He gets that chance several times, but he always
seems to blow it, by his own irresponsiblity. Then by accident, he hooks up with Eloise, a woman with a past and her own emotional brick walls.
At first it seems as if the 2 of them together will flourish and make something of their lives. Lenny is desperately in love with her. But soon his love turns obsessive...questioning her past and her love for
him...it's like he's setting himself up to fail yet again. Even when Eloise gets a position with a cold fish B list movie star, Lenny just can't seem to trust Eloises' feelings for him. He gets arrested while
working at a porno movie studio and he and Eloise lose everything...their apartment, their money and their hope for a better life.
Lenny concocts a plan that with Eloises' help will net them the they so want. The plan goes awray, much like Lenny's screwed up life has. The conclusion of the movie shows just what kind of a man Lenny really is. He always has the best intentions, but just isn't able to see them to fruition. While the script was sorely lacking...they say "what?" alot and there is alot of verbal fat,...Tom's performance holds it together.
He gives a stellar performance! While he portrays Lenny as a loser, he shows us how vunerable and thoughtful Lenny is. You want him to make it and you want to like him, despite his faults. He shows a wide range of emotions, both physically and non verbally. I was completely absorbed in his characterization. In my biased opinion, for Tom Sizemore fans, this is a must see film!
