Passenger 57 - A Review

Hollywood, in the early 1990’s, seemed very keen on churning out action packed movies like this. The films packed audiences into cinemas and gave people like Chuck Norris, Steven Segal and Jean Claude Van Damme careers. Thankfully, this is much better than anything Van Damme has ever appeared in.

Wesley Snipes plays John Cutter, an airline security agent, caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. He is unwittingly travelling on the same plane that is transporting international terrorist, and British Baddie, (cos all us Brits are evil and really well spoken!), Charles Rane.

Naturally all Hell breaks lose and Cutter has to rely on the help of feisty flight attendant and Whitney Houston lookalike Marty (Alex Datcher), in his attempt to avert disaster and the wrath of the baddie Brit!

Tom’s character, Sly Delvecchio, an old friend of Cutter’s, who is responsible for hiring him, is brilliant. With a great series of one-liners, Tom just seems to glide through the movie, smirking as he goes. There’s a brilliant helicopter scene and, at the close of the picture, Tom is so cool it smarts!

Although not a classic film, Passenger 57 is still a great ‘Saturday night at the movies’ flick that will keep your interest and won’t dampen your popcorn. Most of the performances are good and Tom rocks! What more do you need to know?
