Strange Days- A Review

Okay, it’s coming up to New Year’s Eve, 1999, and Lenny, (Ralph Fiennes), has been sent a ‘clip;’ a digital recording where the viewer is able to feel every emotion of the person who had the original experience. This clip just happens to end with the death of a close friend of Lenny’s ex-girlfriend, Faith, (Juliette Lewis), and Lenny becomes concerned about her safety.

This movie has a great cast: Tom, Juliette, Ralph, Vincent D’onofrio, Michael Wincott and Angela Bassett. As much as I hate sci-fi pictures this just happens to be incredibly watchable. Tom, Juliette, Vincent and Ralph are wonderful in their roles. This is not to say that the rest of the cast aren’t, I’m just extremely biased!

My only problem lies with the hairdresser. He/she seems to have taken great pleasure in making some of my favourite actors look dreadful. In my opinion this is a crime that should be punishable by death. Juliette with red hair I can deal with, (kinda reminded me of Micki from the band Lush), but DO NOT MAKE TOM WEAR WIGS!!!!

A couple of scenes are quite hard to watch but that is due to the excellence of the acting more than anything else. This movie is superbly tense and drags you onto the edge of your seat for most of it’s duration, This is not to be filed under ‘Easy Viewing’ beside ‘Heart And Souls!’

‘Strange Days,’ although violent, is an intelligent thriller that deserves your attention.
