The All Saints
The News (most recent first):
- Rumours had been circulating that the
band would be reuniting, but nothing seems to have materialized. The
Appleton official website has also been taken down, as have almost every
single unofficial website. This site will remain up indefinitely but
will not be updated anymore unless there is something new to report.
- Appleton released their album
"Everything's Eventual" in the UK on February 24th, 2003 with the lead
single "Don't Worry" being released two weeks earlier. As usual, the
Canadian release comes much later, and the single was recently released to
radio (early May).
- Nicole and Natalie
have officially signed a record deal with Polydor Records
and will henceforth be known as "Appleton."
Their first album, titled "Aloud" will be
released sometime in 2003, and the first single will be
called "Fantasy"
- Nicole and Natalie
have agreed to be part of a documentary which will be
aired on the BBC in the UK. It will feature clips of
them, as well as Nicole with her boyfriend Liam
Gallagher, and ex-fiancé Robbie Williams. Nic and Nat's
album "Aloud" is scheduled to be released soon.
- All Saints have
released a greatest hits album titled "All
Hits." It is available in most stores and features
all their singles, including some remixes as well as the
radio version of "Twentyfourseven" by Artful
Dodger which features Melanie Blatt
- Melanie Blatt has
admitted to being a former cocaine addict. She says she
gave it up shortly after meeting her husband, Stuart
Zender. She also admits that she still uses cannabis, and
feels it should be legal.
- The lyrics to all the
album and b-side songs are now up. Unfortunately this
draws a conclusion to any significant updates on this
site, as the break-up of the All Saints means that there
will be no more new music or news. I will try to keep the
news sections updated with any news of what the girls are
doing post-All Saints. Thanks!
- All Saints Nicole and
Natalie Appleton have reportedly recorded their debut
single. Supposedly, since the All Saints were "put
on ice", the two have been recording and will
release their single "Blow My Mind" later this
year
- According to NME.com,
the All Saints have been "put on ice"... i.e.
broken up once again. This appears to be the final straw,
but reconciliation could still be possible.
- Though they have
received very very little press coverage or any airplay,
All Saints have finally released Saints & Sinners in
North America! Check for it in your local CD store!
(Whatever happened to I Need The Mic?!). Anyways, the
tracklist is on the Discography page, so be sure to check
it out! Hopefully they will release a radio single and/or
video in North America, but what will happen is unknown.
- Apologies for the
immense lack of updates, I live in Canada and have had no
access to news whatsoever. Well I now know a little of
what's going on: All Saints have released the premiere
single of their album Saints and Sinners, entitled Black
Coffee. The album, as mentioned, is called Saints and
Sinners and has already been released. There is one BIG
'but' though -- Saints and Sinners and Black Coffee have
been released ONLY in the U.K, Australia, and possibly some other
European countries. I have no idea where to get anymore information, or why
the album has not been released anywhere else, there is no apparent
"official" website for the group, and there are relatively few up-to-date
fan sites. Black Coffee is generally available in larger music stores as an
import single in most places. That's the best I can offer and apologize for
any lack of information or updates, but it appears that the group, though
50% Canadian, has left its North American fans high and dry
- Check out all
the lyrics to All Saints as well as Pure Shores, NOW UP!
:)
- More news regarding
the new album: Supposedly it will now be titled
"Saints and Sinners" (I have NO idea what
happened to I Need the Mic, but this site will still keep
the name!). The single is also set for an October 2nd
release date (note the confusion!), and will be titled
"Black Coffee" If anyone can clarify, PLEASE
sign the guestbook.
- I Need The Mic will
(hopefully!!) be released on October 2nd, 2000!!! The
following is a rumoured tracklist: Desire | I Dont Wanna Be Alone | I'm
All Hooked Up | Mama Said | Distance | Ready Willing And
Able | Wooping Over You | Saints And Sinners | I Feel You
| Let Me Know | Jam On Time | Walk This Way | Pure Shores
(Bonus track)
- Apologies for the lack
of updates. Obviously I Need The Mic was not released in
March as expected. I will post any new information as it
pops up, but to be honest I have no idea what has
happened. Thanx!
- All Saints recently
appeared on four different covers of Sky magazine
- The Soundtrack to The
Beach HAS been released. It features All Saints' Pure
Shores. Lyrics will be up shortly!
- Nicole, Melanie, and
Natalie are scheduled to be in the upcoming movie Honest,
in which they play three sisters from London.
- The video for Pure
Shores has been released. Watch for it on MuchMusic, MTV
and other music video stations. It features the All
Saints, and scenes from the movie The Beach, featuring
Leonardo DiCaprio and others.
- "PURE
SHORES" HAS BEEN RELEASED TO RADIO!!!!! The song
Pure Shores has been released internationally to radio.
It will be featured on the soundtrack for The Beach. It's
getting great reviews, and is doing very well as far as
airplay.
- The All Saints' brand
new song off The Beach soundtrack will be called
"Pure Shores"
- There will be a brand
new song by the All Saints featured on the soundtrack for
The Beach. The movie, starring Leonardo Dicaprio, is set
for release February 11th. No word on the release date
for the soundtrack just yet.
- The long-awaited
follow-up to the All Saints' self-titled debut is set to
be released in March of 2000. Not much information has
yet surfaced about the album, except its title: "I
Need The Mic" Stay tuned here for information as it
arises
- Immense apologies for
a lack of updates to this site. "All Saints Need The
Mic" (aka this site) hopes to keep this page more
up-to-date in the near future. Be sure to keep checking
back for more on this page. Apologies again.
The Story
(Some thanks go to MuchMusic):
- Shaznay spent many years of
hard work doing backing vocals in exchange for studio
time. There, Mel and Shaznay met while doing session work
at a recording studio on All Saints road in London. A
couple of months later, Mel brought in Natalie (they knew
each other from school) who then suggested her younger
sister Nicole - and All Saints was born.
- Shaznay, being the song writing
talent and brains behind All Saints, made sure she got the
experience required to make the group work.
- The group's hip credentials
were also polished up by the involvement of Neneh Cherry
and Massive Attack producer Cameron McVey on their debut
album "All Saints."
- The road to success wasn't always so smoothly
paved. Early on Natalie Appleton was deciding whether the band would be good
for her or not. As the band's spiritual and literal elder, Natalie is also
the mother of a five-year-old child whom she feared she wouldn't see as much
thanks to the band. Fortunately her parents decided
to take care of the child while the band were getting onto their feet, and, in the process, reconciled their
marriage after a 15 year split.
- After Melanie Blatt became
pregnant with ex-Jamiroquai bassist Stuart Zender's
child, tour dates had to be cancelled. Nicole Appleton
was also feeling the pressure as studio heads were
picking her as the one for either a solo project or
acting career.
- The tension was palatable
between the girls as break-up rumours started swirling in
the British press.
- They had a brief break-up,
fired their manager and decided to give it another go.
- With four-piece harmonies that
hit the mark, marking them out as an act who can offer a
fresh twist on both En Vogue and the Spice Girls, All
Saints seem destined for longevity in the ever fickle pop
atmosphere
- They had a very successful first album ("All
Saints"), but eventually went on permanent hiatus, putting an end to the
rocky road they've embarked on. Since the breakup, sisters Nicole and
Natalie Appleton have formed a new band, "Appleton." See the news section
for further updates
