This Boy's Life
BSB Nick reveals all about life B.F.F (Before Fame and Fortune!)
What's your earliest memory?
Most of my good memories are since I moved to Florida when I was 10, but I do remember falling out of a tree when I was living in up-state New York. I was really young and hiding from my sister Bobbie who was playing on the swing. I lost balance, fell and hit my head on the bottom of the tree. (Giggles) I cried real bad!
What was the best thing about Florida?
I used to hang out with a guy called Brent and we got into a bunch of trouble all the time. We'd always run off to play in the woods and my parents (Jane and Bob) would get mad with me. It was nothing really bad, just the stuff crazy li'l kids do I guess.
Do you still keep in touch with Brent?
Yeah sometimes but I'm always busy. I wish I could see my old friends more.
Which of your brother and sisters have you always been closest to?
My oldest sister Bobbie who's 15, just because she's closer in age. Then there's Lesley, she's 10 and Aaron and Angel, my 8 year-old twin brother and sister. We used to go on holidays together, camping and boating.
How did you feel when the twins were born?
I remember it was pretty noisy. I couldn't stand it 'cause they'd cry all the time and, what with there being two of them. Golleeee! You know what I'm saying!?
Did you ever change their nappies?
Nah, I was a little too young. Either that, or I just didn't want to 'cause it was too mucky!
Did you entertain the old people at your parents' retirement home?
Yes, I did. I'd come in and sing for them. It was kinda sad 'cause I had a few favourites there but they soon passed away. There was one lady called Helen who they brought with us from New York. She was really nice, but of course she passed away too.
At the age of 10 you performed as Elvis in a talent show. Did you master the leg wobble?
(Cracks up giggling) Er, I had a try. I'm not really a dancer though. I was always so nervous doing those things. You gotta remember I was really young when I started doing that stuff.
Didn't you dance in your dad's restaurant?
Yeah. I was just a little baby then. I wasn't really performing. They'd let me dance around to the music just before they opened up.
You're a natural born show-off, aren't you?
Errr, well... yeah in a way!
Tell us about your first go on a computer game...
It was on Brent's Nintendo. That's why we were so close - we played video games all the time. Eventually, I persuaded my dad to buy me one.
Who was the first pin-up on your bedroom wall?
I didn't have any posters. I always thought my mum and dad would be mad at me for having pictures of girls on my wall. I thought it must be a bad thing to do. I realise now that they wouldn't have minded at all, but I'm never home these days so there's not much point.
Did you win any prizes at school?
You know, I didn't win a thing. I wouldn't say my grades were really bad but they weren't good either. I didn't really enjoy school much and on a scale of 1 to 10 I'd only have rated it as a 5. I wish I could go back but it's too late now.
Who helped you with your homework?
My mum. I used to skip doing my homework all the time and they finally caught up with me and gave me loads all at once. There was way too much for me to cope with so she had to help out big time.
Who was your hero?
I didn't have a super-hero. When I was younger, I was really busy with acting so I really wanna catch up on the things I didn't get a chance to do - normal stuff like playing sport and collecting comics.
Tell us about the first time you toured overseas...
I was 15 and we went to Sweden for a couple of months. My parents didn't come with me so it was weird. I really missed home 'cause while I was gone I kinda forgot what it looked like.
Have you ever in your life done anything vaguely romantic?
Not really. I've never had much time to put any effort into that sort of thing.
OK, for the sake of love, would you let a girl win a Nintendo game?
Whoah! That's a hard question, man. I don't know. Maybe for someone really, really special... but there again, maybe not!
