OLD WEST CASSEROLE

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 16 oz. can whole kernel corn
  • 1 16 oz. can red kidney beans
  • 1 can tomato soup
  • 1 tsp. instant minced onion
  • 1/2 tsp. chili powder
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 5 slices American Cheese
  • 1 7.5 oz. can biscuits
  • 2 tbsp. butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup yellow cornmeal
    Brown meat in skillet.
    Stir in corn, kidney beans, soup, onion, chili powder and milk.
    Lay cheese on top of mixture.
    Bring to boiling.
    Turn boiling mixture into a 2 quart casserole.
    Bake uncovered at 400 for 10 minutes.
    While casserole is baking, dip the biscuits in melted butter, then in the cornmeal.
    Place around edge of hot casserole mixture.
    Bake 20 minutes longer.
