Mix sugar, flour and salt together in a saucepan.
Slowly add milk, stiring till smooth.
Heat to a full boil over medium heat.
Stir contanstly.
Reduce heat to low and contine to cook for 15 minutes more, stiring.
Beat egg yolks in bowl, add a little of the milk mixture to the yolks, stir; add yolks to milk gradually.
continue to cook for 5 minutes more.
Remove from heat and add vanilla.
Line bottom of 1 quart casserole dish with 25 wafers.
Top with 2 sliced bananas.
Cover with one half of the custard mixture.
Repeat layers, ending with custard.
Beat egg whites untill stiff.
Slowly add one fourth cup sugar.
Whip untill stiff peaks form.
Spread on top of pudding and bake in a preheated 425 degree oven for 5 mintes or untill brown.
Serve immediately or chill.
My Favorite Banana Pudding receipe.
If in a hurry for the custard, buy it in a box and follow thru with the rest.
It is still very good and alot easier.
