On Breath and Love

I want you to take a moment and be consciously aware of your breath. Breathe in
and out, in and out. You are doing this all the time. The moment you were born you
started to breathe and have gone on doing so ever since. You have probably just
taken it for granted because it is so much a part of you. Until I asked you just now
to take a moment and be consciously aware of your breathing, had you ever given it
a thought?

It is the same with love. Maybe you feel you are unable to love, or you don't even
know the meaning of love. Maybe the only sort of love you are aware of is
conditional love - 'I will love you if you love me.' I'm not talking about that sort of
love but about unconditional love, divine Love.

Now take a moment and think about God. Have you given any thought to God
recently? What does God mean to you? What is God? Just think about this for a
moment.

God is love. God is within each one of us. God is everywhere and in everything.
What does that feel like? It means God is like your breath, there within you all the
time. God is love and God is within, therefore love is within. We simply aren't
always aware of this, or perhaps we have been unable to accept that it could
possibly be true.

When you take time to be still, you can become consciously aware of the wonder of
the fact that 'God is within me, nearer than breathing, closer than hands and feet'.
Just take a moment to feel the wonder of that statement.

Since God is within, you are filled with love. What a truly wonderful thought and
feeling. It is the same for each one of us.

God is like the sun. The sun shines on everyone alike. God's love is there for
everyone, it is simply a question of being consciously aware of it. There is no
discrimination where God's love is concerned. It is unconditional, there for all. It is
up to us to be open and aware of it.
