Three 4 Tens/the Meat Joy/the Hang Ups

11 feb 00...Metro Cafe Washington DC

This was another Maddie, Pam, Mimi, and I show, plus Alec and Andrew graced us with their alcohol soaked presence. The night was kicked off by the in your face fierceness of Philadelphia's the Three 4 Tens. Imagine the Modern Lovers or the Sonics on speed, and then you'll have a close approxiamation of what they were like. Needless to say, they were a kick in the pants to get the night started, and help over the roadblock that was to play next.

The Meat Joy was, interestingly enough, the band whom everyone came to see, because after they were finished, about half of the paying attendees split, including the girl who blew a kiss at me. I think Maddie still wants to beat her up.

The Hang Ups were great, inspired indie pop from Minneapolis. I really enjoyed their set, which featured a lot of stuff from the new album, Second Story. We danced around and begged for an encore, which we got.
