The Promise Ring

15 mar 00...Meridian Theater Albright College Reading, PA

This night looked like it was going to be a good one. The Promise Ring were playing for free at Albright, and Dan had planned weeks in advance to go. Before the show, we stopped at Border's to try to convince Raina and Nicole to go, but to no avail. We headed off to Albright, but got there tres early, and then went back to Border's and finally convinced Nicole to go. Rich Creamy Paint was supposed to go on first, but they did not arrive until eight, so the P-ring ended up going on first. They played a good show, but it was a bit brief (about 40 mins). When they came onto the stage, they were dressed up in different costumes. Davey was a drill sergeant, Jason as an Amish man, Scott as some kind of dilapidated hippy, and Dan as a woman. They played a good set, but the forty or so kids there had absolutely no energy. Dan and I were the only two up front, until about six more kids came up. Good show, bad crowd. Nicole showed up at 8.30, after we left.

Songs played in somewhat of an order: happiness is all the rage, emergency! Emergency!, why did ever we meet?, jersey shore, forget me, a picture postcard, everywhere in denver, red & blue jeans, tell everyone we're dead, happy hour, living around, and things just getting good.
