All American Radio/Pele/the Promise Ring

24 mar 00...Chameleon Club Lancaster, PA

This was the third P-ring show that I went to in two weeks. It was much of the same thing, the same rock and almost the same set list. Pele even opened again. The first band on was local favorites All-American Radio, who were plain horrible, perhaps one of the worst bands I have ever seen live. Rainer Maria was supposed be next, but they were caught in traffic, so Pele went on and played a similar show as the Friday previous. Their guitarist smiled less, but they seemed to be having a good time, and the kids seemed to enjoy them.

The Promise Ring ended the night (Rainer Maria did not play to the death of Caithlin's grandmother the night before) with another bang up set. Eventhough they are one of my favorite bands, seeing the P-ring too much gets to me. They play the same (fun) set and stick to the same (great) setlist. Davey was his normal jokey self, kidding with a big hardcore looking kid in the front row, asking him if he came to the show because his girlfriend wanted him to. Another great show, but I do not think I will be seeing these guys again until next tour.

set: happiness is all the rage, emergency! emergency!, why did ever we meet, jersey shore, forget me, red & blue jeans, a picture postcard, everywhere in denver, living around, happy hour, tell everyone we're dead, things just getting good.

go back.:
