The combination of lots of rain and Good Friday had campus pretty much dead, but there were still about forty kids out for this show. I had left campus around 4.30, and went back to my place to do some work, but I was asleep ten minutes after walking in the door. I woke up about twenty minutes before the show, and scrambled to get to campus on time.
I stopped at Burger King on the way there, and I kind of stood outside in the drizzle and soaked up the general dismal feeling that had taken West Chester by the neck over the past week. There has been way too much rain and it didn't look like it was going to stop anytime soon. Once I got to school I saw everyone I knew from school, and I ran up to Doug and gave him a hug, and met his supercool girlfriend, Michelle.
Now to the rock. I haven't seen the Blastshaft since last fall, and I was shocked by the improvement. They had really made a jump from their emo-y early material to harder, new rock. The set almost totally focused on the new songs, sans for one song at the end from their first album.
Burning Airlines set up suprisingly fast, and kicked off their assault with "Carnival", and then a new one. There wasn't much difference than the other times I saw them. There were a lot of new songs, which were very good. Mike seemed to jell with the band really well, and I enjoyed Pete contributions to the vocals on "Crowned". "Scissoring", "I Sold Myself In", and two others from the album were played. Although the crowd was pretty low key, the show was very good.
